Did you have family members who lived elsewhere as children?

My Husband's sister couldn't get along with her Father, so she lived with her Aunt and Uncle. My Father had a Sister who was born early on during the depression, his parents couldn't take care of her, so she lived with an Aunt. One of my Cousins lived next door to her family at her Grandmother's home. I was on a bus and a young lady said she was coming up here to live with relatives. Her Mom had "brought home a drunk and I'm not putting up with him any more. I'll live with whoever doesn't have drunks in the house of my relatives up here." I think it was some of her cousins. So did any of your family memebers live elsewhere when you grew up?

7 days is a long time to be on a train. So your aunts do live very far away. Thanks and take care

I can't think of one relative who lived with other family members. I lived at home with my brother and parents. All our cousins lived at home with their parents. Life was pretty basic back when I was a kid. We didn't have a white, picket fence but we lived in a nice house, in a good school district and had a good education. It was plain and simple in the midwest growing up. I was a fortunate child.

I certainly understand because my mother was an alcholic. My father was so wonderful that he did a good part of the mothering so I really felt like I didn't miss alot. When my dad passed away, I was totally devistated. Guess I have the personality that didn't need alot of "mothering" so didn't miss what I didn't have! Sounds corny but it's true.

Your Dad sounds really cool. My Mom could be, but as time went on she felt like she had lost control of everything and became a control freak. Take care
