Okay so I have been doing my daughters scrapbook for a while now and trying to play catch up since I have been so bad about it. I had all kinds of pictures printed - put them in date order - then put them in the file to be done - I have a great box that I keep all my pictures together by how I am going to put them on the page in order. Anyway - Walgreens was running a special for 10 cent prints! So I had more printed A LOT more! I originally had 160 printed then went back and had another 180 printed! Now I am completely out of order. I have been trying to organize the pictures but just can't seem to get them right! I had them printed in date order which would have been great, but my lovely daughter grabbed the box and out went all the pictures. Needless to say out of order! How do you keep your pictures in order? Do you keep them organized by date? When you scrapbook do you put the pages in date order or another order? I guess if kids are older it doesn't so much matter but for now with her only being 19 months I don't want to see a page of her at 5 months then a page of her at 12 months then back to 7 months. How do you do it???

I don't know how Walgreens does it, but I get mine done at Costco. If you look on the back, some companies put the picture number on the reverse side. I just turn all my pics upside down and then put them in numerical order. Walmart and Superstore do the same thing. I scrapbook whatever page I want, regardless of the age of my child and then I put it in the scrapbook in chronological order. Sometimes it means taking a lot of pages out to rearrange, but it really only takes a few minutes.

No they don't I wish they did! I know a few other places number them too. I go to Walgreens because of the price. I get email offers all the time for 10 to 14 cent prints and walgreens is right next to wear I work so I don't have to spend time or gas going to get them! But thanks anyway. Thats the thing there are SOOOO many pages I hate to have to take them in and out.

If I could get my pictures at that price, I'd do it too. The cheapest I get is 15 cents each at Costco if I send them in via the computer. None of my scrapbooks have more than 30 pages in them, so it's not a big deal for me, but you sound like you get a lot more done than I do - I'm sooooo jealous. I might make me husband look after the kids tonight so I can do a page.

The books I am doing are 1 for each year of my daughters life. And because I take sooooo many pictures there are a LOT of pages! When I scrapbook I do at least 2 pages but normally not more then 4. I keep every thing pretty organized so its easy access which allows me more time to actually scrapbook rather then looking for things. I have spent the last few nights going through the pics and trying to get them in order once I have that done I'll scrapbook again. I also do it some times during dinner. My daughter and I will sit at the kitchen counter and she will color while I scrapbook. It is fun bonding time. She is only 19 months old right now but enjoys the time together as much as I do.

I keep my in order of date it occured, whether it's the date I took the picture or date of an event, trip, etc. Since I download and print my own photos, keeping them in a date order is not a problem. When I print them, I normally print off around 20 when I print, I put them in a photo album, nothing expensive, and I put a small note with the picture with the date on it. I found this to be an easy way to keep up with photos and keep them in order, so when I'm ready to scrap a page, I have the photos, dates and ready to go. I can see a problem with keeping them in a box....I'd probably be the one to knock it off and have a pile of pictures to sort, lol.

Well the box I have has great dividors. The problem is I can't get every thing in order. I don't print my picutres from home because to me it seems to be more expensive then just getting them done. I get a lot of discount emails from walgreens for 10 to 15 cents a print and since walgreens is right next to my work I don't waste time or gas going to get them. I know have a date stamp on the pictures but before I had that feature on my camera I would date them as I uploaded them to my computer. Now I have folders by month on the computer so I upload in order. Its going threw all the older ones when I didn't do that.

That would be really nice to make him one. Before I met and married my husband I had a boyfriend of like 2 years and his parents had gone on a cruise over the summer. I "stole" the CD with all the pictures and we spent hours upon hours making them a scrapbook for Christmas. They were the kind of people that already had every thing so it was PERFECT! The LOVED it and it was a fun thing that we did together. My cousin and I did a scrapbook for her sons football coach and that was AMAZING! We spent many hours doing it all fun hours! He loved it. So that being said I can see your s/o loving it! Do it and take a few pictures of your favorite pages and let us see them!

I can see your point in having them printed, that probably is the more cost effective way for you to go. I also see what your saying about the older pictures. I do have some that are in photo albums like that, I would really have to think about when they were taken. However, I only started scrapbooking 3 1/2 years ago, when me and my s/o moved in together, so all the older pictures will stay where they are lol. I am thinking about making him a scrapbook of when he went to Hawaii, before we met, as a surprise for him.

Oh boy we haven't even started yet my daughter is 10 and wants to do her own scrapbook and she is obsessed with horses so we went to the craft shop and got her all the different paper that they had with horses on it and now I have to start printing up all the photo's i have of her on a horse so that they can go in there, I keep all my photo's on the computer and they are of course in different folders everywhere so it is going to be a nightmare trying to sort them all out and to find them but hey thats what we do for our kids ha! but we are both looking forward to starting it and doing it together

It is really a nice project to do together. Great bonding time! Remember to take the "mom" hat off and put the "friend" hat on. Let it be the time she can open up to you. It will be some thing you are greatful for later. My friend and her mom did scrapbooking and over the years when ever she needed to talk to her mom about some thing that she wasn't really confortable talking to "mom" about she would say hey mom lets scrapbook, knowing that mom was gonna put her "friend" hat on. They had the best mother daughter relationship I have ever seen. I hope to do the same with my daughter. She already sits with me at 19 months old. She colors while I scrapbook. GOOD LUCK!

I need to get caught up again too. But I don't keep them in a specific order. I scrapbook by subject. So for instance I did a summer page and on that had my daugher swimming, in a sand box etc. Even though they were different months. I do stay within a few months though. I just keep them organized by date/event on my computer and then only print the ones that I want to scrapbook at the time. Good luck.

Thats a good idea too! I may do that for her 2nd book. And keep this one just in date order.

I keep my printed photos in photo boxes by date. I am obsessive that way. On my computer they are done by category and date. I am like you, I like seeing things in order. My mom's photos are so out of order that I will be doing a random scrapbook for her. That way it does matter the order, but you also only use the really special photos you like.

I haven't seen one like that - The one I use you can open and add pages but I find it difficult once there is more pages then what the book originally came with. I want to use one for each year so I add pages. But I am thinking I may need two a year at the rate I'm going!!!

I know, that's the down fall with post bound scrapbooks. They are a pain to take apart and put back together. I make my husband do it for me. Sounds silly, but he gets everything nice and tight, where as if I do it, it seems to get unsteady and wiggly. There are a ton of 3 ring albums out there, they were more popular when I first started scrapbooking - ugh, 9 years ago, and then declined a bit, but I have noticed that there are some new ones coming out now.

I also like using the 3 ring binder type of scrapbooks where it's easy to put in pages where ever I need too. That way I can scrapbook whatever pages I feel like, but I am not restricted to doing them in a time line order. But I have been know to open up and move others around if I need to.

I'm doing the exact same thing. I had a bunch of pictures printed of her and unfortunately they were not in any type of order so i had to sit down and guess how old she was in the pictures. I sorted them and put an elastic around them with a peice of cardboard that said "0-1" "1-2" and so forth. I finally go the book going and again I'm trying to do it in age order. I don't have much time but once a week or so I get a page or 2 done. My daughter is 5 now and the book is only at 18months but with her being 5 now I get her to help me! Sometimes that takes longer but its a fun activity for us to do. I actually don't even have a system of doing it. I have everything in a big bag, pictures and all and when I'm ready to do it I grab the bag and sort everythign out on the floor. When I'm done, everything gets put back in the bag and thrown into my closet. Nothing special, but I am pleased with how it's turning out.

Scrapbooking Storage - Storage container from JoAnn Fabrics for scrapbooking items.
I was looking at my hair because I had it cut short so I was trying to use that as a guide LOL! Then I was looking at my hair because I rememeber which month I dyed it! I have a system because I have OCD when it comes to my scrapbooking stuff! Plus I have sooo much stuff I have to keep it somewhat organized. I found a great storage container I added a picture of it here for you. Its great because it rolls and each continer is closed so if I just want to grab one and go I can.
