I am noticing that some folks are marking best response's before I even have a chance to respond. What is the average time that you will keep a discussion open? Do you mark the best response in the same number of days every time? Or do you just wait and see who will reply in like just 2-3 hours. Then grade them. I am not sure if I am not quick enough. Or they are too quick. Or am I just not marking mine fast enough. Any input?

Well, there's not right or wrong answer to this. I imagine most people would mark best response when they believe that they've got all or most of the answers they're going to get. That's what I do anyway. You know that you're going to probably get the bulk of the answers shortly after you post your discussion, then they may come in more slowly and then probably stop. You never know when someone's going to answer much later than this of course. But I tend to mark best response when I think I've got most of the answers in. (Sometimes it's much later than this because sometimes I forget! ) Don't feel that you have to mark yours any quicker than you do now, with most things on here it's up to each individual person! And I think that people are just grateful to receive best response, it doesn't really matter when.

Ok kewl, this make sense. I like to wait and give more folks a chance! But if I get the answer I am looking for, I could mark the best response.

Yes, I'd agree with that. I usually wait for the answers to tail off, (and sometimes this doesn't take very long at all, lol!) but there have been a few occasions when somebody has given me such a perfect answer that I'm certain nobody can top it. And whenever this has happened I've given best response earlier.

Well I think thats there choice. If the discussion person decides it's the right time to pick best responses then okay. Also if the discussion maker decides that person gave me the answer i was looking for and more. then that would give them the reason to give someone best responses early. I do some of these things. Like for example If I never get a responses in like 5+ hours then I guess I'm not going to get anymore responses then I decided to pick best response person. :D I try to wait a little long because sometimes I get more later on in time. But just because the person didn't already have a best responses person doesn't mean that Mylotters still can't responded to a discussion. Well yeah thats what I usually do when I decided to pick a best responses person. Well yeah take care and keep posting.. HAppy Mylotting. :D

5 Hours does not seem very long to me, as some folks are not able to get online daily! Thanks for responding!

I agree, 5 hours isn't long enough in my opinion. I think at least 24 hours should pass by because even those who get on every day are all in different time zones, and may not get on here at the same time I do. How could I think that no one else is going to respond after only a few hours. I think I will stick to my week wait...and sometimes it is even longer than a week.

My favorite was the one that asked "do you procrastinate?" And I responded "I will get back to you on that." She wrote back that it was too bad she had already given a best response on it. I said it was my fault for procrastinating. But it entirely depends. Some I do within a day or so and some I leave for a very long time. Others I never give one on because I can't decide or because there isn't really a best response for some types of things.

I never mark best responses until the discussion has been out there for at least a week. I don't get on here every day, and when I am, I am not on all that long, so I want to make sure other people like myself get a chance to respond before I decide which is best. Then there are those that don't have any responses or only have one or two and they have been on here for a lot longer. I am not marking a best response on the ones out there like that right now. I don't feel that the best response has been made. I won't mark a best one until I feel there is one to be marked. I don't have to agree with the answer either...but it has to be more than just a one or two liner.

As a new comer to mylot I have found this discussion very informative. I had no idea I could wait so long before I did a best response. I am so glad I did not rush in before in the discussions I have started. I will wait a while and eep the discussons open for a while longer just in case there is a beter one comes in. Thanks for startng this discussion. I keep learning so much on this site. Its great.

Well, it is a good discussion you have start, I always keep mu discussion open for more than a month, to let more of mylotters to have a chance to respond to my discussion that I start, but sometimes after start a discussion you find some response is what you are looking for to hear form other people so I give him/her the best response. Have a nice day.

Hi there This can be real stupig indeed :D But do you still respond when there is a best answer already... Also does it matter if you get best response or not ? Don't think it will earn you anything though.. Have a good day..

I have never even checked a discussion to see if a best response has already been given. I only post to discussions I like the topic for. I don't care if I get the best response vote or not. If I have something to add, I will add it.

I am not after a Best Response. I am wondering also if I am waiting too long to mark Best responses.
