well, considering the high cost of fuel today, i honestly think it's impractical to buy a car. what good can a car do if you don't have the money to pay for gasoline, right? i used to bring my car to the office, but i'm now taking public transport because i can no longer afford to pay for gasoline. i rarely ever bring my car anywhere anymore.

Hi wangchunxia, in my opinion, no matter how hard i work, i definitely need to buy a house. This is because the public transportation in my country is not good enough. Although there is train, buses a round, but there are still a lot of places can't be reach. In order for me to go my office, i need to take two different trains and after get out from the train, i still need to walk more than 15 minutes for me to reach my office. My case still consider OK, but there are still some places especially factory area, those people need to stop a cab from the bus stop or train station in order to fetch them go to there office.

Hehehe, most guys are like that, they like to have their car! I am a woman but I used to be like that too... I always had to have my car. Now I would like to ride one of those scooters, maybe it is the same as a motorbike. I think I will like it to be blue. With saddlebags so I can carry stuff like groceries. Ohhhh, I am certain that I will love it!

it actually depends on what your lifestyle is. if you travel too often and you're the busy type who goes from office to office then you're gonna need a car cause taking a cab could be more expensive. but if you're the stay at home kind of person and you only go out to pay bills and run a few errands then having a car isn't practical cause maintaining it is gonna cost you. it also depends where you live say if you live in places where there's not much public transportation and you go to work everyday and you can't afford to be late and many more. So needing a car doesn't really work for everybody, you're just gonna have to figure out if you do need one of you're better off without one.

i want to buy my own car, even though the oil price soar up drastically nowadays. it is more convenient than taking public transportation, and also more comfortable, but at the same time, more pollution.we can go to any place anytime if we have private cars, don't u think so? we needn't to wait for the long line for public transportation in the so crowded big cities, and there are a lot of thieves in the bus,i was stolen by a thief the first time i go to university.

Having a car is fun. But you are correct fuel is so expensive now. Maintaining car is expensive as well. As per the current scenario better do not have own car.

Yes, I want to own a car. But still I do believe that a car is a necessity for living. I can live with or without it making it a part of the "wants" list and not a part of the "needs" list. Anyway, I want a car for convenience. It really is easy to commute for work if you drive a car. But there are, of course, some trade offs for convenience. This is usually called the price of convenience which the rising oil prices, safety on the road and maintenance costs as part of the prices you have to pay for the convenience of having a car. But still, what should you do with your life? Living is a matter of improving your life having a car can improve your life is used and well thought off in a good sense and way.

Yes, if I have! But I do know some individuals who bought a car but didn't took into account the underlying trade offs of having such convenience of having a car. They ended up using the car rarely due to rising oil prices. Being inactive, the car engine broke down and the maintenance cost really hit them. So it really pays to plan the purchase of a car.

I also say NO to a car, I wonder why most males are seeking for a car, no matter they are rich or poor, my husband told me it is a man's symbol, owning a car means riding a horse in the past. I judge it just from his mere vanity. But extra mony needed on oil, parking, cleaning and so on is undisputable. If I have a right to vote, I must vote 'no'. I don't know the useful of a car, i can walk or take a bus instead. And do it more, air pollution problem will be relived.

Where I live, you have to have a car. There is no public transportation I can walk to from my rural area of California. To shop, see doctor or dentist, or take my business shipments to the post office, I need to drive. Sometimes I have 60 pounds of books or more divided between several packages that I have to take to the post office. My church is also about 20 miles away. Public transportation is only good within the city limits and only goes within the city. We three different towns close to each other and to go from one to the other the public transportation isn't good.

In my state of California, cities can only afford to provide public transportation where there are a lot of people going in the same directions, like to school or work. People who live in less populated areas wouldn't live there if they had no cars or trucks. In America, unless one lives in a city, almost everyone has a car. Even where public tranportation is available for commuting to work, people often drive to a "Park and Ride" space where they will meet the carpool van or catch a train to go to work. When we lived in Los Angeles when we were first married, we had good bus transportation wherever we needed to go, so we did not have a car. But we had to get one when we moved to Long Beach and my husband got a job in Malibu. There was no bus to go there. Then I also got a job that was an hour's drive in the other direction and we had to get another car. In California, some people have a commute of 1-2 hours in bad traffic. They work in many different places in many different directions. Many people work outside the counties they live in. People are sometimes reluctant to move to teh area of a new job because they are not sure how long the job will last. High school children expect they will have cars to drive to school when they are old enough, and many parents allow them to have a car of their own. Many households have a car for every driver, since everyone is off in a different direction every day.
