Goblet of Fire. it's adventure and character and story development all in one book. and the focus was not just on harry alone. also, i think it was the perfect transition between the easy lightheartedness of the first three to the seriousness of the last three books.

the fifth one... I think it's the best among the 7 books. But i hate to say that the fifth movie of the HP series really sucks.
