I'm leaving on the 13th of August for a 10 day house boat trip. I'm VERYVERY excited about my trip. I'll be going with my parents, 3 sisters, brother inlaw, 2 cousins and my aunt. I'm not going to have pc access or anything! Its so nice to be able to take a break from normal life. Have you ever gone house boating? Any tips on what to take?

A house boat - Houseboat on the water
From what i understand its living quarters on a boat. Beds, kitchen etc and we can take the boat out on the lake and hang out.

I hope that you will have a wonderful house boat trip. Yes, I went a house boat with other students for a week on a trip up the River Thames. We were fine on the calm river but felt sea sick on the open sea. We had to do training exercises like a night watch and pretend fire fighting. We slept in bunks and the males were separated from us by a curtain. There was cold water only for washing. It was a memorable trip and it was a complete break from normal life. I had a shower as soon as we reached my college at the end of our house boat voyage. I suggest taking warm clothes for the evenings.

I went on a canal barge for a weekend with some friends. The boat as very basic and the washing facilities did not work very well - the shower on the boat was only a small drip of water. So I think, unless you have a very upmarket boat, you probably need to treat it like a camping trip and take all the necessary supplies.

I'll have to make sure to take my camera. Otherwise I'll be sharing my moms pics - she takes much better ones than me anyways! We were told we have to take our own food and bedding. cooking and eating utensils are provided though.

I've never gone houseboating, but I did get a tour of a boat that was pretty incedibly. My neihbours had a big oat that was docked somewhee, and we go to go inside it and see it,. It wasn't qite a houseboat, but people were able to "camp out in there" for a few days. We only stayed a few hours, but we did have a good ime.

I think my mom said our houseboat is about the size of my grandparents camper trailer so maybe it should be a camperboat! I'm counting down the days.

I have never been on a house boat. But would live to take a trip on one just to see what it's like living on the water and not have to deal with anything else but the water. A house boats I have seen on tv and that is about it. But I have always thought that it would be nice to have a house boat. YOu can take home were ever you want to go as long and there is a water way to travel on. Have fun!!!

Hi. I think you have chosen a right trip plan. You would enjoy the most in boat house with your inlaws and relatives. I had been for my honeymoon in boathouse in Kerala. we really enjoyed a lot. its really a gr8 experience. Can you imagine in a boat there will be Kitchen, Drawin Hall, Bedroom with attached bathrooms same like a luxury five star hotel. Its really a wonderful and unique experience. If I get a chance to go I would again with all my family. I had been in Kerala, Alleppy boat house. I dont know where you are planning to go. Anyways enjoy. Im sure you would have a great time.
