Hello shamsta and welcome to myLot. I live in Columbia so we are sharing some of the same temperatures the last couple of weeks. Our AC went out last Friday and it was so miserable. But it has cooled down enough at night to open the windows and deck door. That took the temperature here in the house down from 90 to 80 by morning with all the fans going. That 2 ceiling fans, 1 box fan, and 1 osculating table fan,3 small 12 inch fans. The moving air helps. I close off the windows on the southwest side of the house as son as the temperature starts to climb. We got our AC going before the 100 degree weather started Tues. I have set here at the computer in the past with my feet in cool water and drinking ice water with lemon in it to help keep cool. I also have a sock filled with rice that I keep in the freezer and when it gets really hot I put that around my neck. I keep the AC set at 82 all the time so that when we have to go out it won't feel quit as bad. It still feels bad just some better.

More power to you if it works for you. That's definently a new trick to me.

By staying indoors with the ceiling fans going. I'll have to put the AC on soon before my husband gets home as he can't stand the heat. I don't mind it at all but I can't stand the aircon nor the cold.

Too much a/c can get a bit nippy. Kinda takes your breath away when it is too cold but you have to love the feeling when you come from outside into a nice cool crib!!! Oh yes it feels good. Sit still for about 30 min and your ready to go back outside.

It's 70+ and comfortable out here on SF Bay, but hell, that's why we moved here from Philly. Just got back last week from a coast to coast road trip (13 states in 3 weeks), and boy was it hot. The high desert and midwest were bad enough, but that East coast humidity was god-awful. The worst was the Bronx. We went to a Yankees game and it was 101 on the street, 103 in the stands and who knows what it was on the field. The worst part was getting on the subway outside Yankee Stadium after the game. 50,000 people emptying out at once, a good number of them getting on the subway. It was shoulder to shoulder waiting to get to the pay gates and it had to be 115 in the underground concourse. Everybody was soaked in sweat and a couple people fainted. I've had enough severe summers and winters, hence it's the BayArea for me.

Boy I miss the Bronx. Born and raised. Still never been to a Yankee game (go Mets) but I've been in the stadium. You are the second person today I've had a conversation about going to Yankee Stadium. He was there a few weeks back. The heat in NY is unbearable because of the humidity though, and I don't miss that sticky heat but I love NEW YORK...

And leaving Yankee Stadium at least some of the subway is above ground and outdoors. You ever got on at 96th street in the summer? My GOD you can die when the train pulls in and blows all that hot air and funk up your nostrils. Some things I still do not miss...

Not that hot here in FL but still pretty darn hot! We run two full ac units. Ceiling fans in every room and some floor fans too! And I keep the freezer stocked with pop sickles!!I don't leave the house during they day except to check the mail unless I absolutely have to. Mid June through August is a killer.

I forgot about the popsicles in the freezer thank you for the reminder. All that stuff has to be hell on your electric bill though. It is too hot to worry about it I guess. And it's hot at night too.
