What date do your children go back to school??

We all know that the date to go back to school varies from county to county, possibly countries aswell. So Im interested to know when your children go back to school. Have you any plans to make the most of the remaining time of the holidays?? Have you already got the 'Back to School' things for you children??
Are you children looking forward to going back to school?? Are they new to school??
I havent got any children so dont know when they go back to school in my area. I work with 2 people who have school aged children so rely on them to fill in me in when the holidays start and finish!!

My kids go back to school on August 19th. They will have an orientation and back to school night the day before. We have already bought all their back to school supplies and have enough clothes to start school we will have to buy more clothes down in the near future though as the weather turns colder. Can you beleive school is starting already and soon it will be time for Halloween!

Do you live in Cincinnati? That is what date my son goes back to school too. This is way earlier than what I was used to in Cincinnati Public Schools. We always went back like the 28th or 29th. Basically it was a short week before Labor day, a short week the week of labor day, then full weeks after that. Now kids go back to school in the middle of Summer. Its crazy, pretty soon they won't have a summer vacation.

Gosh thats early!! When I was at school we always went back in September!! Are your children excited about going to school?? Have you got much planned for the last days of the holidays??

LOL to be honest with you I am not sure of the actual date, I think it is either the 2nd september or the 7th but I shall have to text someone I think to find out for definate!
I have bought their bags and P.E kits, and I am getting the rest next week, they are not new to school one will go into year 4 and the other into year 2. We have not got much in the way of plans for things to do, we are trying to save money for a holiday abroad next year so there is no spare cash at the minute.

Theres nothing worse than getting the 'Back to School' gear!! I used to hate being dragged around trying to find the bargains!!

My son goes back to school on the 19th. I'm a little sad because I thought (up until Thursday) that this would be my daughter's first year of school too. But, falling in line with the rest of Cincinnati, the public school system has changed their policy so she won't be able to go. First, I thought that I would be able to enroll her in school as soon as the school's office opened up for the year. I called, and they told me that I had to go to the board of education. Then, when I got there, there was an entirely different story. Turns out that the neighborhood school that I wanted her to go to only does special needs preschool. They do take some regular kids, but only four, and there is a waiting list of like 20. She could go to a couple other schools that are a little further away, but they will not give her bus service. I don't drive, so that means that I would have to choose between getting my son on the bus (he is special needs), and taking the bus hours early to get her to school. This is a mess. Why does she have to be special needs for her to get the same treatment that I thought all kids should have?

Its not so much the times that they go in. Like I said before, my son is special needs and the bus comes to get him. Its just that I don't drive and where the other schools are located it would take me so long to get her there on the city bus, that I would miss my son's yellow bus to do it. The biggest problem I have with this whole situation is that last year I could have enrolled my daughter at the school. Since I thought that would continue, I waited until late (when the school's office opened) to try and enroll her. If I would have known that I had to go to the board of education in the first place, maybe she would have been one of the first four to go. Unfortunately that would have done nothing for the bus situation. While her brother would have gotten to ride the bus, I would have been stuck walking her to school, and they both would have been going to the same place!!!

That is crazy how she cant attend the school you wanted her to because she hasnt got special needs. Its strange how they only take 4 regular kids!! Where do all the other neighbourhood kids go?? It bizarre how the public school system has changed their policy right before the school year starts!! Im sure your not the only parent who thought their child would be attending school. It is a hassle when you have to be at two school at the same time!! You would have thought they would have started preschool say half hour later than school does so that parents gets get from one to the other!!

Hi Here in the SW of the UK they go back on the 3rd of September and broke up 22nd July. I am already organised and have bought all the new uniform and items needed so now I can relax for the rest of the holidays. I even have just one drawer in my sons room that is just for school clothes and nothing else so I know exactly where it all is. We are going to visit my brother early next week and then we are coming back to see the Dawlish air show then will just have odd days out here and there really. Ellie :D

We a homeschoolers and have "school" year round. The summer months are a little more relaxed....but our cooperative starts back up the last week of August. We are having a kick off carnival for the public the weekend before that.
