i am a born athletic and really active in sports and in work. but sometimes i guess from too much pressure and exhaustion that i feel like gasping for breath and brief chest pain which i did not feel before. i called a day off at work and decided to have my check up togather with my wife who is a nurse. i had my ECG (electrocardiogram) done initially and to my surprise i was advised by the doctor that the tracings went bad. i have some sort of ischemia in my heart that's causing my chest pain. my lipid profile went okay so i was taken another blood works for heart enzymes. good enough that they are still okay. my wife was so worried that she wanted me to have a longer leave of absence and totally discourage me from doing my usual activity of which i am so used to. i feel okay now and see no reason to absent from work and miss my scheduled badminton tournament on monday. i need your idea on this particularly to medical professional mylotters. please help me. thanks!

if we are going to define ischemia in layman's term, it is basically a deficiency of blood supply to a part in your heart specifically your heart muscle that is due to an obstruction of the flow or by narrowing of the lumen of the arteries. that has many causes dietary and personal lifestyle but the worse that we should know is this kind of condition is hereditary and age matters too. so the mechanism here is, whenever you experience the pain in your chest it does mean that there are less oxygen circulation on that area of your heart by way of your blood. any type of strenuous activity, even by just holding your breath or when you poop is a lot of labor for your heart already, how much more with badminton. i'm not saying you quit with your badminton, what i'm pointing out is seek advice from your doctor regarding this kind of activity. i'm sure your doctor will submit you to a stress test, (you gonna have to run in a treadmill with their guidance and EKG electrodes will be attached on your chest to check how far your heart could sustain the rigors of stress) and with your present condition (that you said it's bad) following doctor's advice is best for you. make sure you are carrying aspirin with you all the time and if you have medications, carry it all the time. somehow you are still experiencing a mild chest pain which often referred as angina pectoris and that is suppose to be a warning sign for everyone to be cautious on everything coz this may lead to a full blown heart attack if you're not doing anything to solve it. you may feel fine now because what happen is about the supply and demand. what i would like to know from you is this, when you felt the chest pain, would it disappear when you relax or stop what you have been doing? does the pain moves to other part of your body? (like in your arms, at your back, your neck and so forth) or the pain just concentrated in one area of your chest? are you doing something or anything when the pain appears? lastly, your wife has the right to be worried since i'm very sure she is familiar with your condition being a nurse herself. she could give more information to you and could supervise you. \nurse-EMT\

if i were you, better call some days off from work to really rule out what's troubling you. heart ailments can occur eventhough you don't manifest signs and symptoms at a present time. better be watchful with your diet. eat a lot of vegetables, fruits and fish. fish oils help decrease cholesterol build up that is why it is known good for the heart. eat high fiber foods like oats, nuts and grains as these can facilitate your bowel thereby prevent straining during defacation. drink a lot of fluids is also advisable as of the moment, i mean water and not caffeine rixh drinks like cola and coffee. exercise is good but mak sure it is not too much strenuous in nature. lastly, have yourself routinely checked up by a doctor as scheduled. that's all! God bless!
