Is it true and important that first being successful parents is teaching a skill to children? What skills needed by children? Share and explain your words.

I think to be a succesful parent is simply to love your child, help them always to be happy and to follow their dreams. Dont ever put them down or make them think they arent worthy. They can learn anything they need skill wise at school if they need it, a parent should be there to teach them how to be morally strong and healthy and to grow up with a good sense of what is right and wrong.

I am not a father yet, nor shall I be for a few years yet with those plans being years off but I have discussed this with my current partner. With children the thing you want most of them is that you have given them all the life skills to move into adulthood in order to be independant and to do well in their lives. Skills that I intend to teach my children beyond the normal schooling etc are things like budgetting which is important as then you know what you can spend and when whilst making sure you have enough spare to enjoy life. Cookery is another one, although my girl rarely lets me near the kitchen and when she does its to make her a cup of tea, isn't love grand, anyway cookery is important as it means the child will then be able to cook for themselves without having to learn the majority of it, as I did, when you want to be doing more fun things when going to university (college to Americans). Manners is an obvious one, please and thankyous and thinking about how your actions affect others is an important part of becoming an adult. There are more I just cant think of them right now, but if I think of them later I will come back and add them to this post.
