I heard this on the news a few times. So Many People use Lime wire and stuff I know I do. but, they say that that is consider stealing. That we will get charge for stuff like that. I understand them then I don't, Well were taking new music and putting in are MP3 and Ipods and stuff. However If that is consider stealing then why is it available to the public. I think thats just stupid. -What is your Opinion About this? -Would you consider this stealing?

I think if you place your music as free commodity on the internet, youactually are donating it and if I download, I surely dont have to be labelled as a thief-those who want to sell thei music online make it clear it is for sale!

I so agree with you, why put it on the computer and make it available for people if it is stealing!!! I have also heard this and must admit I've downloaded a couple of things but literally only about 4 things, I thnk they are probably more after those that download stuff daily! I wouldn't so much class it as stealing as they are offering it to you, stealing to me is taking something like clothes froma shop or something that is not available to you for free!

I heard something on the radio the other day that stated that internet providers were going to give the users of illegal downloads warnings via emails..and should they fail to comply they may well lose their connection. It is illegal to download from the internet and people have been repeatedly warned about it,im not at all sure that all of this is aimed at the casual once in a blue moon download, but its more so aimed at the ones who do it for profit!A while ago I wanted a copy of `The Quest` by Bryn Christopher,he perfomed at Glastonbury festival, and apparently this song is on Greys anatomy..but its a good sone,so I went to the internet to find that his album wasnt even out in the shops at that time,so I looked on ebay and found a single CD of the song I wanted,I watched the item, and went to bid for it ,but it went up to around five pounds or more, well with postage it seemed a bit over the top,so I quit .Then I decided to go to I Tunes and after downloading I tunes I was able to get that song and burn it onto a cd all for the cost of one pounds and forty nine pence!!so the internet one was wat above what it should have been!!

By downloading music, you get to listen to particular tracks when you want and officially that is considered stealing, but if you go to a pub that has no entry fee and has put on live music but you don't pay for a drink, is that stealing too? How about if you watch a fireworks display from a distance without paying to stand in the area with the best view, is that stealing, should we overt our eyes? If by downloading a track and gaining the ability to listen to a song when we want at our choice, what about calling a radio station and selecting a song for them to play, this would also be stealing under the same logic, just not officially because the digital data of the song doesn't change hands. If we record songs from the radio, we obtain the track without downloading it, but this is allowed. I understand why it is illegal though, because by downloading music for free, you don't give any commission to the artists.

It isn't just stealing. You downloading that music is copy write infringement. It is stealing because my downloading the music for free off of a trading site, you are stealing earning away from the people who produce the music. When you purchase a song for iTunes or a CF, you are buying the rights to use that music for you own personal use. It is illegal to distribute that music to other people.

You should be careful of these types of programs. A while ago I was watching on the news, a lady downloaded about 2,000 songs from programs like Limewire and now she's looking at prison time for stealing a huge amount of money from recording artists. Before you download any more music, you need to make sure, that the FEDS can't or won't come after you down the road.
