I happily remember my visit to Kangaroo Island where I saw lots of friendly wildlife like kangaroos. One night I saw penguins and by a camp fire in the bush I saw two possums play. Sydney is my favorite city in the world. Wow! When I flew there I saw the stunning looking harbor, the white sails of the opera house and the gray harbor bridge. I liked going to the botanical gardens where I saw cockatoos. I had my first experience of snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. I saw colorful coral and friendly fish. It was an awesome experience that I will never forget. Do you have favorite memories from visiting Australia? If you live in Australia where are your favorite places?

Thanks for choosing Sydney as your favourite city. I love living here, but then again, I've lived here all my life so it's home. I really enjoy travelling within Australia, but when it comes to my favourite place, it has to be home here in Sydney.

You are so lucky to live in Sydney. I have traveled to many different countries and cities. Sydney will always be my favorite city in the world. It has such a special setting on a stunning looking harbor. The opera house with its white sails is the most amazing looking building that I have ever seen. I am so keen on architecture. If I lived in Sydney I would like to live near the ocean, in Watson's Bay perhaps. I would work somewhere near the opera house and go for walks in the botanical gardens at lunchtime.

Well you've got good taste - you've chosen one of the most expensive areas to live ... lol! A long time ago I actually did work at the opera hous for a short time. I loved it. The whole place had a wonderful atmosphere. I would love to live in England for a year or so. It's not entirely impossible, as my husband can get a British passport. If he got work over there, we would be there in a flash!

Yeah, I really hope to have a chance to visit both at some point. There are so many things that a long trip would really be the best option.

I hope that you go to Australia one day. It is a huge country and many people under estimate its size. I heard two Japanese travelers asking in Perth which train went to Ayers Rock and the station master told them they would have to catch a plane. I suggest Sydney is an essential stop on a trip to Australia and the Great Barrier Reef is awesome. I have been to Australia twice on long trips and had another long trip to New Zealand which is far smaller but there is lots to see.

I have been to Kenya and loved there. I am sure the Uganda is a great country to visit as well. I am so pleased that the Ugandan athletes made you proud bringing home the medals. It must have been great when the Commonwealth Games was held in Australia.

The last time I visited Australia was in Melbourne, where my ex was. Didn't do much sightseeing as we were trying to patch up our relationship but it was a waste of time and money on both our parts. I have been to Sydney and Brisbane but that was for a basketball tournament when I was in High School and I really don't remember much of the place other than the beaches we visited oh and the shopping.

I didn't see much of Melbourne either. I got a tram to St Kilda and then did the shopping in the center. Next I went to Philip Island where I saw more penguins. I am sorry about your relationship. It must have been amazing to be in a basketball tournament when you were a teenager. Australia has some very pretty beaches. Thanks for responding and I hope that you are having a lovely day.

For me my favorite memories from Australia, EVERYTHING *smiley* From the city of Sydney aside from the Harbour bridge and Opera house. I can't forget the malls(shopping malls that have low prices), the DFO *yehey!* the supermarket (cadbury chocolates and ice cream yummy), the restaurants, weekly barbecue with my sister's friends, the St. Marys Cathedral where my sister walk on the aisle (i wish i could walk on the aisle again, not as a maid of honor but a beautiful bride *smiley*), the china town, the animal park (Featherdale Wildlife park), the Sydney aquarium, pole dancing and a lot lot lot more. The most favorite memories of course, living with my sister (in her place) for 3 straight months was unforgettable. I'm not only missing the city, but also to be with my sister in Sydney.

I have visited only Melbourne. So I cannot speak about Sydney or other places in Australia. It has left a great impression on me. It is big beautiful still yet to be discovered. I have seen the twelve apostles and the view there is magnificent. I am impressed by the wildlife, the number of kangaroos you see, the rosettes and the other wild life that you cannot see in any other place of the world.

I'm an Aussie: a Sydneysider, born and bred! You like Watsons Bay? I was born there! Missing Canberra is a pity, but while Canberra is the Capital of Australia, Sydney is the Emerald City (which is, as everybody knows, the true capital of Oz). My favourite place: can't name just one. I love the Outback for its dramatic and varied landscapes and its peoples; Coober Pedy and Lightning Ridge hold a special appeal (and not just for the Opals). Perth is a great city but so, in very different way, is Darwin: about 18 months ago I travelled from Darwin to Perth by campervan: you are right, we have a very large land, and a very diverse one. If I ever moved away from Sydney, I would love to live in Tasmania; unfortunately, my wife will only move north! Coffs Harbour (Banana Country) would suit her better; of course, there is always tropical Norrth Queensland - Cairns, or maybe the Atherton Tablelands would do nicely. I have been fortunate enough to have travelled to and photographed, many places around the world: I have never found any place to compare with our easy-going culture or impossibly beautiful land; I know that sounds a bit OOTT, but Europe, the Americas, Asia; Afrika... I have greatly admired the people and places I have visited, but I still call Australia home and cannot imagine a better one!

I had so many wonderful experiences in Australia. I started in Sydney and worked my way up to Cairns. I got to hold a koala and feed a kangaroo. I met aborigines and they showed me how to throw a boomerang and told me about their culture. I toured bits of the Opera House. But I have three favorite experiences: I snorkeled at the Great Barrier Reef. The colors were so amazing and the fish were surreal. It is hard to even explain how amazing it was. I ziplined through the rain forest among other things at Full-On Day Camp on the outskirts of Sydney. It was so thrilling and the camp was set up to break people out of their shell. I am a different person because of it. I lived with an Australian family. They are great friends now and I have a standing invitation with them. I will never forget the times with them. We had long conversations about the strangest things. They are truly my second family.

Hi Maximax,I love Australia and I really wish I have the second chance to visit this country again. I been there once during my college times,I went there with my friends followed a tour.I been to Gold Coast, Sydney,Melbourne and Brisbane,it was 9 days trip. I remembered well that the tour brought us to Philip Island to watch Penguins. We waited there for so long and Can only see penguins from far away. Weather was so cold at that point of time as winter was coming soon. Giving me a chance to stay in Australia, I will choose Gold Coast as I like going to Sea World,Movie World and Dream World. These are a great amusement parks. Gold Coast is not that hectic city compared to Sydney and Melbourne.

Emu - Emu from a zoo in Adelaide. It looked quite sternly at us :-)
One of my favorite memories is chasing through a number of gardens looking for the Wollemi pine! We had great fun every time we saw one. I also liked the zoos, we went to on in Adelaide where you could walk through the animals enclosures and my friend nearly got attacked by a kangaroo. We went to Blue Mountains and took two tours in the Jenolean caves, that was great! Except for all the stupid people who tried to use a flash in huge, black caves. The inbuilt flash on a compact camera won't even light up those standing close to you, much less the rest of the cave, they just annoy everyone else.
