The recruiter is going to kill my husband!

Ergh. I am so not happy right now. DH decided to join the Marine Corps, no problem. He got his waiver and they said his weight was okay. He found out today that measured him a half inch shorter than he is and now he has to loose 12lb by Monday morning!
12 lbs is a lot. To make matters worse, they want him to work out at least 3 hours a day, barely eat and only drink if "he has to", otherwise chew gum. WTF. Then, if he makes weight - and doesn't pass out - before he has to take physical fitness test they told him to eat and drink a lot so he has his strength.
Today he dropped 6lbs and he doesn't look so hot. He said his arm and legs are tingling and has no saliva. He did drink 2 glasses of water when he came home, now he is in the shower. My husband drinks a lot - probably 2-3 times what I do in a day and he sweats a lot (it can be 65 degrees and he sweats).
I am worried about him making it until Monday.

Even if he drops the weight and gets in, he is going to have an extremely tough time in boot camp with any extra weight at all. Good luck!

He isn't fat. What happened is that he is 69 1/2" inches, normally they round up. So his weight - 205 - was well below what is needed for the height. However, they rounded down to 69" so ship weight is 195. My husband is almost zero fat and all muscle and he has super dense muscles (he is one of those guys who always weighs heavier and has to be taped only to be found ot have 2% body fat), I am not even sure where he "lost" 6 lbs.

What was his waiver for, anyway? Was it for his weight?

I am sorry to say and I am not trying to be mean but your husband is an idiot if he is listening to them to make this dumb weight. 12Lbs by Monday is a little absure. It was the Marines who screwed up not your husband. Your husband is going about this all the wrong way. If it means that much to him he and if he wants to see Monday he should be eating and as well drinking. If he has the problems that you say he does he shouldn't be doing it this way at all. Drink the water, eat the food and be healthy. Loosing 12Lbs by Monday is crazy.

He did drink something when he got home, now he is just lying in bed. He says he doesn't feel well enough to eat yet. I am leaving him be.
I am trying to find something that he can eat that is healthy, but won't put a lot of water weight back on.

Screw up or not, if he doesn't make the weight, he doesn't get in, simple as that.
I don't agree with the drastic measures he's having to resort to, but if he doesn't make the weight, he doesn't ship.

You would think that they would be more lenient on men, they call my house all the time and try to recruit my family! They seem so desperate, yet if you don't make weight they decide you're not good enough for them, it's ridiculous.

Have you looked into those supposedly negative calorie foods or possibly even diet drinks/shakes...that way he's still getting nutrition but not all the stuff that causes weight gain. I don't know if it would work but it's worth looking into.
Twelve pounds in a few days is really extreme and has to be completely unhealthy. I wonder if saunas and the like would ben easier on him...he could sweat off extra water. The boys in my highschool wrestling team used to take hot showers while fully dressed in layers and sleep in multiple layers with the heat all the way on and a pile of blankets over them so they could make weight for tournaments. They could drop a few pounds in a day or two by doing that.

We have a sauna in our complex. Never been in it though. Those things give me the creeps!
I can get some celery and what not. His Dad said that he use to do this and just to stick to coffee, soda, tea because he has to drink.
A few weeks ago he dropped about 15 lbs then when he had to start running he gained 5lbs back in muscle weight. He doesn't think he has any more water weight to loose.
Tomorrow he is going to work out another 4 hours and we will see where he is at. Originally the recruiter said he HAD to be 195. A few minutes ago he said that even if he doesn't drop any more weight but can make everything else, they ill still ship him but he will have to loose weight in the military special camp before moving to boot camp.

Ugh, that is quite a story. That is so hard to go through! It's not like he is in basic training yet, so that would make his body more fit anyway. I say instead of the recruiter killing your husband, you should kill the recruiter! hah.

Honestly, if he didn't have the 1st wavier they wouldn't be on him about meeting the weight because you can get a waiver that allows you to be like 15% over the requested weight.
In my opinion, since he has a waiver from being prior service, I really think this is more about him "proving" himself than anything else.
regardless, I am the one stuck with him being miserable. I am about to call this whole thing off.

Right now it is not about him being fit, it is about meeting the height/weight standards to even enlist.
If he doesn't make the standard, he doesn't get in - period.

I don't know what the current regs are, but I know you could only get a waiver for one thing in the past, they wouldn't grant a second waiver.

His arms and legs are tingling because they are becoming numb because necessary blood and nutrients are being re-routed in order to keep his vital organs functioning properly. This is called "emergency mode".I know this because it happened to me when i tried to lose too much weight too fast, i now have a heart condition which means that i am unable to pass any kind of physical exam because my rhr (resting heart rate)is 119bpm,this or worse will happen to your husband if he keeps this up please try to make him see sense.I understand how badly he wants to join the marine corps but he is literally risking his life.
