I myself fond of going to Casinos, I find it really exciting..I considered gambling as a nice pastime. Gambling means fun, excitement and amusement. right? My self-esteem rises when I experience physical excitement from gambling. Sometimes I won,the other day I loss, Sometimes I pay back small loans and borrow again. I do all the borrowing just to play back.. I'm just trying my luck...Is there something wrong with me? When does gambling considered an addiction?

I once was addicted, and I knew it didn't want to admit it though. I just stopped, it has been three years. I went to Atlantic City this week, and had a small amount of money to gamble with. I also had $400.00, with me, that was not for gambling. When my allotted money was gone, I did not go to the $400.00,so even though I still like to gamble, I know when to stop and will not borrow in order to gamble. You should just spend what you budget and that's it. Do not borrow.

it is a good pastime but the lure of gaining more tends to make it addictive.

i do gamble sometimes, too in online games. but i don't go over what i can afford to lose. it is just for me to have some fun when i want a little thrill in my life. i do win sometimes and lose as well. but i don't always keep on playing especially if i am already losing. i know when to stop and when to keep on going. gambling is only considered an addiction if you can't stop playing even if you constinuously lose. i think what's wrong with you is you already are into borrowing money just to play. it's is better to just use some money which you know is yours so you won't have to think about paying back after sometime.

Hi Yohanna, you are right on the brink. The fact that your questioning should be an indication to you that something might go wrong. I like it too, its fun and exciting, and does give you a great feeling when you win, but you have to know when to stop. I wouldn't borrow money for it, I'd only borrow if I had an extreme emergency. Try finding something else to do for a month or so and see how you feel. If you feel you must gamble and go anyway, then you might have a problem. If you get into debt over it, hide the fact you are going from others, or if your friends and family start nagging you about it, those are the indications that you've gone in too far. Have fun but keep your guard up!

I enjoy gambling only when I can afford to play. When you start borrowing and cant pay it back or starting cleaning out the bank accounts and pawning your belonging just to get your gambling fix, then you should take alook to see if it is an addiction. Play for fun and you've have a better time and win more often than not.

u will feel addicted to gambling when u are going to go over your limits while gambling, for example u will daily spend 10$ for gambling, but sometimes u want to spend more than the required amount, they are the first signs of gambling

Nothing is wrong when everything is under control. When it goes beyond that point it becomes addiction. To get to know whether you are addicted to gambling or not, why don't you stop going there for a week or four to five days? If you can do that successfully and put mind over matter, you can boast yourself of not being addicted!

I myself am an admitted gambling addict. I use to be far worse, when i was working but now that im not funds are limited even more so. I called a help hotline one time and they asked like 20 questions and based on my answers they said i was addicted. However, i did talk to someone on the hotline and some basic things they mentioned is if you are taking loans in order to gamble, if you steal say from a spouse or from your family income and hide it from your spouse/partner, or anything dishonest of that sort..those are sure signs of addiction. If you will go to a casino on impulse, or you go there and the world goes away..addicted. So based on what you are saying, yes you would prob be considered an addict, so pleasse be careful.. I am not a professional obviously but based on what they say are signs and what you have said..if you were to tell a professional therapist or doctor these things im pretty sure they would consider it addiction. Good luck with it and be careful...i got fortunate that i was forced so to say to curb mine, but believe me any time there is extra money such as overtime on hubbys check..you will find me there.

Addiction is defined as a sate of physiological or psychological dependence on a particular activity or substance. Do you find yourself unable to concentrate or have strange feelings if you didn't visit the Casino for a extensive period of time? If so, then perhaps you are really addicted to gambling. Gambling is a fine habit, as long as you do not land yourself in debt and do not neglect other areas of your life, such as your family, studies (if you are still schooling) and your friends. One good way to prevent yourself from falling deeper into gambling is to set yourself a limit, on both time and money, for gambling. Say, you will limit yourself to 10 hours each week on Casino with $500 monthly. In this way, you can monitor yourself if you are able or unable to stick to the limit you set yourself. If you can, well, probably you are not addicted. But if you find yourself increasing the limit frequently, then you are falling deeper as the days pass.

HI! Well according to my husband, who sometimes love to gamble, gambling happens when you have little money left and want to take risk on gambling your money on. It becomes an addiction if you have a spare money and put it in games. He would always tell me that is why it's called gamble, win or lose. make it or Break it.

to be honest you got to quit as early as now.... for me the way you are behaving, shows the signs of addiction. If you use luck as an excuse for going to casinos, then think again cause you are now hooked to gambling! If you feel somewhat energized when you go to casinos, why not try physical exertion? Are you in to sports by the way? Borrowing money so as to finance your gambling spree is really a lost cause... Why not spend or invest it on more loftier causes.... It' not too late yet... Quit now!

My friend could tell you....she it going to gamblers anonymous. Just a couple of years ago we had a casino go up just a few miles from here....well she got hooked. She recognized she had a problem and I am very proud of her for taking responsibility for her actions...You should see if you can go without gambling for a month or more and if you can't then I would say you have a problem. Also borrowing money just for gambling is a bad sign. Hope this helps you out a bit.

hi yohanna...i think when gambling becomes an addiction is when some people can't stop. and they really get into debt. i had a co-worker who ran up 2 credits cards because he couldn't stop. some people neglect their family. they spend more time gambling over the holidays than they spend with their little ones.

Gambling becomes an addiction if you stepped out to your boundaries or if you spend more than your limit.. I guess you know what I mean..

You probably are somewhat addicted if you are getting loans to play. With gambling people tend to lose a sense of financial self preservation, but in the end, the casinos win. Another way of telling is when someone plans a certain amount of money they can lose, which everyone should do in order to know when to stop, but when you get past your budget for gambling, that is when it is becoming a problem. If you lose more than you were originally planning to lose, then you need to slow down and step away from the machines and poker tables, because it will probably just get worse after that point. Good luck! And don't gamble too hard!
