80th Birthday

Today's my Dad's 80th birthday. I just wanted to share this memorable event with all of you. I brought him some presents and will be spending the weekend with him and the rest of my family. He'd been through a lot and since my Mom died nearly two decades ago, he'd been living alone with frequent visits from me and my siblings and his grand daughters. We encouraged him to get married again when he was a bit younger but he stood firm. I'm proud to be his daughter.

Wonderful!!an octogenarian!!and an independant one too.I have found as time has gone on for my mum that the present thing doesnt really enter into it too much ,she loves to have a fuss made,maybe a box of hankerchiefs and some roses but she just loves her day,and we will usually take her out for supper,she really ejoys that!like your Dad she has been alone and has never remarried,I wished that she had found another partner and always made it very clear to her that if she did it would have made me very happy,but she chose not too,she loves her independance,and is a great fun person to be with..long live the oldies!!

True. Just our mere presence made his day. We wanted to have somebody stay with him as companion but he firmly refuses. We're worried that he's alone especially after a flood occurred in our locality just the other month which reached three feet deep. But he's holding on to his independence and we have to respect his decision.
