There are 48 States in the Continental US, 2 States outside the continental US(Alaska and Hawii) and 2 territories Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

50 because apparently Alaska and Hawaii I think it is, don't count for some reason, but with them 2, it's 52, I don't know why they don't count.

The last time I checked, there are 50 states in the USA, not 52.
