she has this weird habit of developing a hiccup after she giggles for a while. its okay and does not worry me a few days back because she does not giggle a lot. but just yesterday, she seemed to have found a pastime in giggling hard (maybe because its a new thing for her, that's why she keeps doing it), and that's when the hiccups start. she doesn't cry when she hiccups, mind you. in fact, she continues giggling until she's sated. tell me, is this normal? for a baby to develop a hiccup after giggling? have you had a child who does this? i want responses from here to know if it's just okay before i bring her to her pediatrician lest the good doctor scold me for being such a worrier if this is a normal condition. i have tried searching the net but i came up with nothing (or maybe i just haven't looked that hard) thanks! any views is welcome :)

Hiccups are completely normal, especially after laughing and at such a young age. My daughter had hiccups all the time as a new baby. Hiccups are acctually good for them because that helps develope their lungs. That is why at the end of pregnancy babies hiccup inside you cause it is developing lungs for them. Don't worry, but if you are still concerned talk to the pediatrician.

My kids got the hiccups all the time after laughing. They are 3 and 4 now and I still give them hiccups everytime we wrestle and laugh and tickle. I don't know that there is any problems with that. I think its funny and so do they when they get them/\
