I know that you are not supposed to but I do. I can't help it. It is habit. When I go out for lunch meetings or nice dinners, I try not to, but still find myself doing it.

hi. .it seemsthat you are not the only one that putting the elbows on the table while eating, because, i usually doing it... they say that it is not a good manner when eating but, what can we do?, if we feel so hungry, we cannot put in our mind that putting the elbows on the table is not good becuase of hunger.. Other people or mostly "i think" in the rich families do practices on eating without the elbows on thetable because they practices it and they dont want to make it a habit. in our place here in the phils., me and my families had the habit like this one..but we don't mind it... for us, its not important if we put ordo not put our elbows while eating although that the good ethics says that its not a good manner, but forus, the important is, we are still eating healthy foods and we have a healtly body.

I agree. Eating healthy and being able to eat is more important that having your elbows on the table or not.

I know that you are not supposed to put your elbows on the table when you are eating because it is rude and very improper, and I think everyone is guilty of it from time to time, because it is a habit that is hard to break, and I know I find myself doing it from time to time without even thinking about it,and the only thing you can do is try not to.

I do it all the time by habit but I usually catch myself pretty quick and take them off. If it's an informal affair with friends or relatives I usually don't care and neither do others.

I pretty much do the same. Why should we have to do that though?

Hi if I am relaxing and enjoying my chat and my meal then I have often put my elbows on the table to rest my head on,now when we were younger we were taught that that is very bad manners and considered rude too,so I should try not to do it,but I am sure that I do it automatically and without thinking.oh smack my little wrists I am a naughty girl

it is important also to us to follow what is the corect manner of eating foods but when there but there are times that it is not necessary to do it all the time when we eat, but, do whatever what you want to do that makes you comfortable when eating but, do it without any person that can see you in that manner of eating.. i usually doing that thing, but when in a public places like in the restaurants, eateries, or in the other houses, i prefer to do a good manner on eating specially when there is special occasions, etc., becuase we do not know what's inside the minds of other people that could see us doing bad manners,. there would be rumors or something.. .

If you are in the habit, it is hard to notice when you are doing it

Heck yes I do. It is what is comfortable to me and I do not see the big deal if that is what I want to do. Some people think that it is rude though. Thanks for reading and good luck.

I agree. I hate putting by arms on my lap when eating. Who decided that it was rude for elbows to be on the table anyway?

I personally do not see anything wrong with that.It depends on the confort, provided it will not caurse displeasure to anyone. Culture varies. For instance it is rude in my area if you give something to somebody with the left hand but will mean nothing in another area.
