The Emigrants : A book by a sweden Author

Recently I have been reading a book about a Swedish Province and the immigration from Sweden to America. It's a really good book, at least in my own humble opinion. Some of the words a bit hard to pronounce but that is to be expected as it was written by a Swedish Author and revolves around Sweden and their culture. The story is set back in the 1800's, and is about farm life mostly. Some of the things that are featured in the book are a bit unexpected for a story not only from that year but from that style of writing. The story features a bit of beastialty but only a smart part, and it really has no role in the story but only to give reason for a character to wish to venture to America. Have you ever read a book that featured a part a bit outlandish? How did you feel about this part? What was it? Do you read books often? What kind of books? Do you enjoy reading stories that are set back years ago? Why do you enjoy reading these stories? Do you like to read aloud to others? As you already know I've read a book that featured something a bit outlandish. I can't say that it really bothered me, it was a bit strange but nothing that I could say disturbed me. I don't read books that often, but I have read them. I like to read romance and things set back in the old west. Yes, I do enjoy reading stories that are set back in the past. I just love the sense of simplicity that most of these stories bring. I do like to read aloud, and read aloud to my fiance as it calms me and I do think that it calms him.
