To Catch It Or Not...

In almost every wedding reception that I attend, there's this bouquet catching part. Since I am single I've always been prodded to join in it. But how did that practice come about? Have you tried to catch a bouquet for women or the garter for men? They say that the person who catches it (bouquet or garter) will be the next one to be married. Do you of anybody who did?

I can't remember attending a wedding a catching a bouquet. But when I got married, I made sure my best friend would be the next one to get married: I brought the bouquet over and handed it to her. LOL Sure enough she got married three months later. LOL

That was nice of you to play along. Very mature.

I remembered that a similar situation arose during my cousin's wedding. They know of my aversion to that practice. What they did was have of my younger nieces catch it and bring it to me. Everybody was staring after that and I didn't like to make a scene so there...

In any of the weddings I attended, I didnt like to get any attention, I just wanted to be a spectator. So to avoid this bouquet catching thing or at least save myself, I wear pants ;)) not jeans though...just soft pants to match my blouse, something like that! So when once, I got the bouquet, they had to replace me with the other girl wearing skirt or dress :) Because, when you think about it, it is not pretty sexy to see a garter over your pants' leg! :)) haha :P

Why didn't I think of that? Nice save and I'll surely try that next time.

When I was single, no I didn't jump for the bouquet. I just wasn't interested. Some of my friends did. It looked pretty funny watching thes girls/woman all dressed to the nines jumping around screaming and fighting over a bunch of flowers. And funny thought. I can't remember one person who caught it that actually was the next one that got married.

I've got good timing. Almost every time it comes to that part, I disappear.

Hi diutay, I have been to many weddings but I have never caught a bouquet, but when I got married I had to throw my bouquet over my shoulders and one of my co. workers caught it, don't know whether she is married now because I have lost touched with now. Tamara

It would be interesting to know if she's hitched or not. For some I guess it's just to have fun.
