religion,for the religious?

I'm a bit livid, I've just about 2 minutes ago been told off by a friend of my mothers for singing "Hava nagila",he told me that i had no right to sing that song because i'm not jewish.I wasn't singing it to make a religious statement,I was singing it because i like the song! that doesn't seem very fair to me,he told me to stick to my own faith!I know where i want to stick his faith! Am i wrong for being offended, upset and bloody furious? Is a jewish song only to be sung by Jewish people,a christian song for the christians,a Hindu song for the Hindus, etc?

That's ridiculous! The Jewish folks have always been a very exclusive group, which would explain why that person freaked out. I would keep singing if I were you! :)

i have learned there are many paths to the top of the mountain and all religions are based on: love peace forgiveness kindness acceptance he just cant handle the thought of you singing that song because alot of people and things have taught him to be narrow minded and that creates very negative energies. (btw, keep on singing it...im christian...and i admit i love that song) I did a whole study on 5 major religions and it has enriched me in unimaginable ways!

No way, he does not own the song, so why latch out at you? I am a black christian, and I was actually singing that song last week. I was singing it because I like it, just like you do. Don't let what he said to you get to you, he is the one lacking faith, if he could be so rude to you just for singing a song, which he thinks he owns.
