Are cell phones are the new cigarettes?

Do you agree or disagree? These days, I see tons of teens and kids even constantly texting or talking for hours on their cell phones. It's like no one talks to each other anymore, and all they need is a cell phone. I know a friend who used her cell phone so much, she had it taken away. She would literally talk for hours on the phone, even when she was supposed to be sleeping. I have another friend who doesn't use his cell phone unless he really needs it for an emergency or something. Some people just can control themselves. Cell phones also have radiation, which can cause brain cancer. Do you think teens should be restricted to a certain amount of cell phone use, or that there's really no harm done?

i think cell phones are great for convenience and safety but i think a whole lot of people have gotten way carried away with them. but it is just like everything else these days. people seem to have no self control. to be honest i do not have that much to say that i need to have a cell phone stuck to my ear 24/7.

Totally agree with you about the "no self control" and stuff. It's great that cell phones are good for conveniece and safety, but we're definitely over-using it a little bit. I guess it's because I don't use text messaging is why I don't use my cell phone much :).

I really think that the teens are out of hand, along with the adults in this world.I work in retail and two teens came to try clothes on in the fitting room. The one girl waited for her friend to try on first. hile the girl was in the room trying on clothes, the one outside the room couldn't control herself and started texting the one trying the clothes on. I've never seem fingers fly that fast. The girl inside yelled from the room, "can't you wait until I'm done, I'll be finished pretty soon!" The girl doing the texting had a wild look on her face that I've never seen before. These kids are getting out of hand. What really gets me is that most of their phone bills are being paid by their parents. What's wrong with the parents today? They're just as bad, I saw a woman with 2 cell phones in her hands, one on each ear! Talk about an addiction!!!! I think the brains are fried already.

Wow I have never seen that before, now it sounds even more out of hand, I didn't think people needed to text/talk with two cell phones that much!!!

i think your comparison is regarding as per it is also addicting right???well it actually depends on the user. as you said one of your friend cannot live with using her phone while the other only use it for emergency purposes. it depends really on the user.

Wow, my friend considered giving her child a phone when she about 11, going into middle school at the end of her 5th grade year. I can't believe nowadays people are using more advanced things are way more younger ages.

I agree , cellphone's are very addictive, me for one cannot live without my cellphone. Especially here in the Philippines where cellphones are the "IN" thing means of communication. Yeah, you know a lot of cellphone company provider here are offering call all you can and text all you can; so you see how the people here are availing this... humm. WE totally replaced face to face talking with this gadget .
