Do you ever take shampoos and soaps from hotels?

I have a friend who literally collects soaps and shampoos from hotels he visits when he travels. When we had to donate items to a charity, he came with bags of different bars of soap and shampoo, almost all of them being different. He admitted that he collected them from hotels. I've done this once or twice before, but not a lot. Also because I don't travel much anyhow. And also, why do you take soaps/shampoos from hotels (if you do)?

Why not take it, you are paying for the room and the things that are in the room. I tend to take things as mementos!! I like collecting mementos!! Im a bit of a hoarder when it comes to mementos. I dont travel much but when I do, I try to take things to remind me of our stay.

hi hottnburning!
well that was not such a bad thing he did since he donated it all to charity. but even if he didn't, it is not a bad thing to take soaps and shampoos from hotels you visit. i am talking about the soaps and shampoos that are like those for retail. shampoos in sachets and small soaps. not those in big bottles (are there hotels that put big bottles of shampoos and soaps in every rooms?). i also take those shampoos in sachets and small soaps. after all, they were there in the room for me to use. it just so happen that i have my own soap and shampoo so i don't get to use the hotel shampoo and soap. i take them home and use them. the soaps i use for washing my hands. the shampoos, i let them be used by family members who aren't sensitive with shampoo brands.

It's part of what you paid for the hotel room. My parents used to take it with them all the time. For me it depends on the type. Most don't agree with my hair/body anyway as it is much too drying. But there is really nothing wrong with taking that with you. And it was nice of your friend to donate that to charity.
Most people take it for the savings they have in not using their own shampoo, or to hold on to their vacation for a bit longer by taking this memento. Now taking a towel, that's stealing;)

I do, actually I stayed at a hotel in Atlantic City, last week. I took the body wash, soap and lotion. these products are given to you as part of your hotel stay, in actuality you paid for them, so why not. If it is something that I would not ordinarily use, I will leave it, but if it something that I have use for I will take it. They are only sample sizes anyway.
