How often do you do a disk clean and defrag on your computer? I usually do both at least once a day. Because I'm on so many PTC sites and other things. My files seem to get scrambled up pretty easy. Plus it keeps my computer running nice and smooth.

Every day? Wow, I usually do each once a week. The more you download and delete, the more often you should cleanup/defrag. But once a day is very unnecessary.

Your right cleaning and defraging everyday is unnecessary. I think the reason I do it is that because I got so used to it. I use to have a slow computer; so I was always doing a disk defrag,or doing a disk clean up to keep it running at a normal speed.

That I think put too much strain for your hard disk, there are mechanical moving parts which in turn also generate extra heat. Just make sure you have enough free space in hard disk and you could schedule once a week or once a month. Use CCleaner or similar utility to free up unnecessary files and fix/compact your registry. These things should be done with just the right amount, too much or too little has adverse effect. Temporary files are not just meant to be deleted, they are created to help browser speed up browsing, instead of getting it off the site if the file exist in your drive it will be used. Browsers has its own clean up routine when needed.

I do have ccleaner. So maybe I'll schedule a disk defrag and cleanup once a week; or maybe every other week. And I do have a lot of free disk space. Thanks for your answer I really appreciate it. It made me understand more up disk cleanup and disk defrag.

I have a ccleaner installed on my computer and once i have finished working on the net i simply run the ccleaner and it simply clears off all temporary files and links. I find this an excellent way of cleaning up my computer.

once a day is outragious, I usually clean my system about once a year, I also defrag it at the same time. I let the defrag run overnight since it takes so long to run and straighten everything up the system normally doesnt need the defrag either.

I've been told that once a day is to much to defrag. So now I'm going to do it once every two weeks. Once a year? Now I would think waiting a year would be to long.

I know a few people that don't defrag there computer. They also don't do a disk clean, and then they sit and wonder why there computer is running so slow.I alway tell him clean your computer to keep it running good.
