I know i have to quit smoking because of health isues and i am trying. I have cut down gradually and i am proud of myself. I have to do it "Cold Turkey" because of the medications on on i can't use the patch because it gives me nightmares and makes my heart race, believe it or not i was getting more nicotine from the patches than my cigarettes, the pills will affect my heart and blood pressure. but i'm still one of the crazy ones that enjoy it. How about you?

I quit a year and a half ago, it was tough to do. But I am so glad I did it and have no intentions of smoking ever again. Its tempting though, I would still like to have a cig. every now and then, even though they stink and its hard to breathe around them. I slowed down on smoking before I quit, then I quit cold turkey, no patches or medication. The patches scared me, I heard about people having nightmares, heart racing, plus if you did cheat and have a cig, being very sick and possibly getting an overdose of nicotine. If you really want to quit you have to set your mind to it and then just do it. I did gain weight, now I would like to get rid of some of the extra pounds, it doesn't seem to want to leave me. I figure a few extra pounds is better then still smoking. Good luck on quitting when you decide to do it.

I actually never started smoking so I don't have to quit...but I wish you the best of luck! I guess it's for the best that you have to quit because now you won't have to worry about more serious problems in the future.

Your one of the smart ones. I started smoking as a teenager (after my dad was killed.) I was the only one in my group of friends. My mom never tried it either, but my dad smoked but quit when he had this heart attack. Out of 6 of us in the family 4 of us smoked. Thanks for responding.
