Every year we have a family reunion that's back in the woods for a whole weekend. My grandfather and his brothers bought this land EONS ago and there are some cottages that people stay in. We don't have a cottage so we always camp out. The last couple years, we've put our tent down by the lake. Mostly for the "view" but also because it's out of the way. It's really close enough to everything that we know what's going on and don't have to walk very far, but far enough away that we can sleep if everyone else is staying up. Of course this year I was one of the last ones to bed, but it sure was great in the morning when everyone else was getting up and I didn't hear them!!! WOOHOO!!! I think we'll keep this spot every year:)

I think that's great that you have your own piece of land to
camp on. I have't been camping for years. I used to love
to camp out. It must be even better to camp out by a lake.
It's such a great feeling to be outdoors in the woods. I just
love that peaceful feeling being out among nature and far
away from everything. I know it's been years because the
last time I went camping there were no such thing as cell
phones or Ipods! So we really did rough it! I even took a
3 day trip down the Delaware River Water Gap. That was in
my younger braver stronger crazier days, but boy did we
ever have a blast! I don't think I was ever that tired!

It's so nice because we don't get cell phone reception so it's pretty quiet. They do have satellite tv, so they watched a bit of the olympics. Normally it's just us and the woods though. We love it.

We go to the same place every year, and always put our tent right in that same spot. We love it! It's so much fun. I'm sure you could find a place that would be relaxing for you :)

Hello, reinydawn.I like the method you choose to your family reunion. My family is a big family and we live in different city so it is hard for us to get together. The only chance we reune is the Chinese New Year but we just eat dinner together.I think we should try some spot in the open air like your family.Tent down by the lake,it must be interesting and the view must be beautiful.I have envy you, lol.

This is actually on our families property. My grandfather and his brothers originally bought it way back when. Now my uncles own a lot of it and we just use their property. There are a few cabins, but some of us still like to camp out. It's georgous and lots of fun. You should try planning something for your family, sometimes a weekend is enough time to reconnect!
