I am going to get married. How to get a "loving wife"?

I am not married yet and look forward to getting married shortly.
Many started advising me on how to select the partner, how to handle things after marriage, so on and so forth.
Is it by luck that you get a good wife or you convert them to lead a good life or how is it being done? I had the opinion that marriages are made in heaven and we have less control over that. So its all upto fate to give us a good life. But i now think that need not be the case atleast in some cases.
Your experiences & views will be of use to me. Kindly share them.

In Selection
Make your basic expectation clear and stick on that.
May be on color/education/looks etc
Dont take much time say years to select. shortlist four or five and go with one.
After selection and before marriage
If it is arranged marriage, then be
less talktative
dont open your weakness, better hide
dont open your family probls,better hide
reduce the personal meetings, only on special occasion.
let the other knows more about you after marriage.
keep saying your expection well before as hubby.
After marriage
First year is most important. you need to balance both your better half and your family.
Be supportive to betterhalf and console your parents.
Keep the first year cool and make all her dreams come true.
Automatically your dream also will come true.

You have been my friend at mylot and good to see you grow as a much closer friend with your suggestions and views.
Yeah i do accept your views and suggestions. I also feel that the right balance in the starting part of life is very crucial and will make a lot of difference in the rest of the life. I will surely keep your suggestions in mind.

when i got married my parents has first seen the boy n his job n they enquired about him in his house surroundings n also at his job place to know how the guy is , his behaviour, his nature n then they stepped forward for the marriage .
n even u can do the same n pray to god at the sametime to have a good wife who should be helpful, loyal, beautiful, isnt it ?
