Taht day one of my good friend pointed this to me by sending a PM to me asking that somebody, a new bie is using same avatar as me. I thought it can be a mistake from the part of that user who have not seen mine. so I just replied to one of hios discussion, there in first line i requested him to change it. it was on saturday. now on monday also he has not changed. now I guess he did this intensionally. What can I do now? Also I am happy with my avatar? why should i cahnge if somebody else copies mine?

If your avatar is something you really own... or you took the picture yourself... that you can always report that person to the admin... but if the avatar is something public... or it was taken from the internet... then i think there is nothing you can do about it...

is your avatar a picture taken by you? if yes then you have every right to ask the other person to change his/her avatar. however, if it is just a picture you took off the internet, then why should the other person change? it just happened that the two of you liked the same picture, nothing wrong with that right? personally, i wouldn't change mine if the picture doesn't belong to the person who asked. how nice to find a like-minded person here on mylot. out of the millions pictures available, two of you liked the same one. cheers ;p

you are using one of the popular icon worldwide. That guy might be select that avatar intentionally. I think we don't have any right to change the avatar one uses, but violating. Let me give one suggestion. Can u edit current avatar n insert ur name in it.

I don't think there is anything you can do unless you own the avatar, then you can report it.

Oh.. ho.. another problem for my friend.. Perhaps that user loved your avatar much.. who else will not, when they look this little sweetie.. Give that user a Pass, as we friends can recognize you more by your name than by your avatar.. And by the way,how is your Dad,Subha.. Hope that the second opinion that you got from another doctor is fine, and i pray god for his well being. Take care friend.

If the avatar that you're using is copyrighted to you, then you have all the right to request the person to change it. However, if the avatar you've chosen is something that you can get in public, then you really can't force the person to change it. That's the problem with using pictures that are from the internet or something.. there's a possibility that someone else might choose that very same person.

That should be ok. You needn't change yours at all. Take him off your friends list and you probably won't see him again. There are still numerous sleeping dog avatars around and it is not a problem. If the person is new they may not have understood how our avatars distinguish us. Everyone knows the pink Asian baby is you. I would not worry, when they realise, they will change it.

If it was your unique photo that you're using as an Avatar, there might be some copyright issue if You didn't want someone else to use it..If you both picked up the same image online,Good Manners would indicate whoever first used the Pic should have precedence, and the other should choose another pic as their Avatar..If the pic isn't original to either of You,mylot does request that you hold copyright on any images used,to avoid legal wrangles over ownership and usage..It appears the other user has yet to respond to your "Desist" request? If You don't own it,I feel there's not much you can do to stop or dissuade someone from using this photo..If they don't own it either,Maybe You should both choose a New Pic,and save any bad feeling..

If that is not your own picture, you can't do anything about it if he doesn't want to change his avatar. Just don't mind it as you'll earn nothing about it.

Hi subha. If you've only uploaded that avatar of yours in the net, then you can't do anything about it. Each person has their own right to choose which avatar they will use. But if your avatar is your own pic, just like my avatar. Then that's the time that you should react. If someone uses my avatar right now, I would say that that person is a copycat. LOL. HUGZ subha. Keep posting!

hey subha..If what the others said is true that if this is not your own photo or you do not have a copyright on this, then you can't do anything about it..and that's so sad... Anyway, if he doesn't wanna change his avatar, then don't change yours!!.. unless he can match your number of posts, but as you have said he's a newbie, so good luck to him... You were here first and got that avatar first, so go ahead and use it..If you have already informed him about this matter and he still wouldn't change, so be it... people would know who was the first one to use it and who copied who...

Hello subha12, Is the avatar you own personal photo that you downloaded on t your profile or did you get it from one of your interest pictures? because I got mine from my interest and if someelse use the same as mine, I can't say anything to them, if it your own picture then should change it and its stealing. Hello subha12 I think every one has his choice to do something. on the point of the avatar, i think mylot doesn't have a rule on the using of the avatar to limit every one must use the unique avatar. So If some one also like the photo you used,he would use it.or even he didn't find you are using it who only find the photo on the other websit as you. I think you should change the concept: the photo is so wonderful ,so some one also use it.lol. Maybe you can send a message to the one who also used it for a resolution if you think it is necessary. good luck to you

well, if you had talked to him and you are really not happy, then you can write to the mylot admin and tell them about this matter... i don't guarantee that they will do something about it... but hopefully they will look into it and take actions... anyway, the avatar is not your creation and it is also not your picture... so i don't think it is that significant even if people use the same one as yours... that's what i thought...

That is awful. I think your avatar looks great. I don't understand why people in here do that copy and use someone else's avatar. I only use my pictures myself. I hope so one steas mine.

Hi subha, Let's hope that he is not online yet and wasn't able to read your request..I have not tried that and I guess he will approve your request knowing that you have that first but if he will insist, I know your friends will still not confuse since you have 11000+ post here more than that person!

if its your own personal picture that you are using for you avatar then he should change it, but if its not then whats the problem, he doesn't have to change it if he doesn't want to

Is it a photo you took yourself of someone's baby, or did you 'borrow' it from the same place he did? If the latter, neither of you are being particularly original, really. And neither of you have any proprietary right to try and insist the other should change.

hey i never realise avatars anyway so i think you should not worry about this just ignore it no harm done if someone else has the same thing and if there is then you cant do anything about it because you cant make the other person change it
