Airline travel

I had my first experience with the new baggage charges on an airline. The Airlines are now charging for each bag you check and I found that people are carrying on more bags and items. I checked and paid for two bags and carried on two bags for a two week vacation. When I went to board the plane I noticed that the overhead compartment was full and I was only able to place one bag in an over head compartment that was several seats away from my seat. When people got off the plane I noticed that several people had two bags and a couple of shopping bags that they carried on and they were all stored in the over head compartments. With the new boarding procedures I had an Aisle seat and was among the last to board and was one of the few that had to place a bag under my seat. Have you had such an experience and did it do any good to complain tot he airlines?

I am so glad that I nearly always fly Southwest Airlines. They do not charge for checked bags (up to 2) and they have open seating so you can pick any seat you like if it is not occupied. Their fares are usually lower too because they locked in their fuel prices when oil was at $53 barrel. They have a pretty good on-time performance and are really friendly. They also have very few lost luggage incidents. Great airline!

I have never flown on Southwest but may have to try them if they go where I fly.

They probably do. You can check out their website at www.southwest.com and they have an interactive route map that shows all the cities they service.

I like Southwest Airlines too flew with them for the first time in June was happy that I could check 2 bags at no charge and also get snacks & soda, coffee at no charge as other airlines are starting to charge for that too & the open seating is great as long as you remeber to print your boarding pass have a good day

I flew with my toddler son to Latvia this summer. I could take one piece of luggage for the hold up to 15kg for £16 each way. I could have two pieces of baggage each weighing 7.5kg each or three pieces each weighing 5kg for much more money, £32 extra I think it would have been. I had to pay £8 each way for the airline to carry my light weight travel cot. I was allowed one bag for hand luggage of specific measurements weighing up to 10kg. I had a carrier bag as well that I got in a shop in the duty free shop. Most of all I resent not being able to take drinking water on the plane from my home. Bottled water at airports is expensive. The liquid rules are strange and they were even suspicious of my baby's milk when we went to Portugal.

ive had that happen even before the airlines started charging for checked bags! its incredibly annoying and i find it rude too! i mean the ppl who do that KNOW that overhead compartments are for the ppl sitting directly below them..and yet they dont give a damn. i had to put my 1 bag 2 compartments away from me, then had to wait to get to it until almost everyone had gotten off the plane..only the find the person who'd put her stuff above me also had stuff above herself AND the seat next to her too! pissed me off lol! that was a couple of years ago.and with prices now, there is no way i could afford to fly anywhere, much less actually bring a bag with me!

It is very inconvenient to have a carry on bag and have to search the plane for a spot to put it.
