I had two USB pen drives. One is an ordinary one and the other a U3 model. Yesterday i was washing my clothes. I had earlier put my pen drives in my pant pocket and had forgotten to remove them from the pocket. I socked the clothes for washing in detergent mixed water. Later came the cruel thing of putting these clothes in washing machine. Only then i realised that the pen drives are in the pocket of my pants. I was really shocked and disturbed to realise this. I just took them and dried them in the sun. I don't know what would have happened to the pen drives. Whether can i use them or not? How to handle this situation? Oh.. What will happen to the i have in the drives? Any one experienced this situation before? Any suggestions to what i do now?

I have not experienced that before! Geex, you should have been more careful, especially where electronic stuff is concerned! Well, as with most electronic stuff, I don't think it would be too much of a problem. If you had not try to use it after washing it, and had instead just let it dry thoroughly, then it would be alright. However, you will have to take note that the pen drive must be dried thoroughly before any attempts to use it! Otherwise, your pen drive would just short circuit and it will no longer be usable. It would be best if you could leave it to dry for a day or two just to ensure that it is thoroughly dried! After 2 days, plug it into your computer and it should run beautifully. If all things goes well, your data should also be well protected and there would be no loss to your data at all. Take care and I hope that all things goes smoothly for you.

Yup the same happened to me jus last week, howzzzzaaaaaaaaat??? lolz.. Don u worry, U jus can dry it in the Sun, if possible try to detach the body of your drives and u jus have to use a little strength and try dry'n it either in sun or under the fan... Please don anything else like heating it in an oven(I heard ppl do'n this), don connect it immediately to ur PC, don use it atleast for two days, expose it in the sun... After 3 days, u can very well use it without any loss of already stored data... Regards, DJ

I believe it might still work, just let it dry and hope that it does. If its soaked in salt water then for sure its history.
