How Often Should You Post In Your Blog?

The frequency of posting in your blog depends upon several factors. First is your availability to write posts. Oftentimes a blog has no new entry because you had no time to post. If this is the case, at least make it a point post 2-3 times a week, even if they're short articles. This interval will give your reader time enough to read and digest your posts. Non posting for a long time will cause the "crawlers" of search engines not to "crawl" your blog more often because you don't have new content. Second is the type of your blog. Is your blog a a news-type site? If yes, then you have to post everyday because of the updates. The most ideal posting therefore for ordinary blogs is 3-4 times a week. This will attract the crawler to your site more often when they detect that you have a regular new post every week. Happy blogging!

I do try to post at least twice a week on mine. I leave it longer sometimes, and I then I feel bad for not posting more. I can post every day if I have something to say but if not I will let it go for a few days, until I have something to report. I started my blog in February and it has 46 posts on it. I think I have done quite well with it so far, and I am getting traffic every day.

That's good enough. Congratulations for getting traffic everyday. 46 posts for 6 months is just fine. I wouldn't force myself too to write if the urge or inspiration is not there.

The more the better, but quality is more important than quanity. If you can publish no fewer than 2 high quality posts a week, you'll be doing well. If you can post daily, you're doing even better. Some bloggers post multiple times a day. It really depends on what your goal is. Some types of blogs are easier to post frequently to than others. For example an opinion blog or news blog might be easier to contribute a lot of new posts too, while a photo blog may not be. The best blogs I've seen seem to offer new material every day. Some have multiple authors, to keep the content plentiful and full of variety. Good luck to you!

Hmmm writing in my blog for me has never been for commercial purposes so I don't find myself being overly concerned with the subject matter, traffic and frequency etc...Just a very small blog for me to remember things/vent my frustrations/store my photos and record them/achieve catharsis at times thus usually I only blog about twice to thrice per month. Anyway, I do think that the ideas/suggestions/tips you've offered are very valid to those who are aiming for blog traffic :)

I have to admit that I've been lazy at times when it comes to blogging, but I've tried to step it up a bit because when a blog is abandoned by its writer its readers will abandon it as well. I have a few blogs. With my personal blog, I only update when I have something interesting to post. However, I also have a niche blog that I try to post 3-5 times a week.

How often one should post in a blog depends only on the following two factors : - What kind of blog you have - What aims you have set for your blog If you have a personal blog then any frequency can be followed and you can post when ever you have something new to share . As you said that ideal posting frequency is 3-4 times a week . But to be very honest thats the wrong concept . The ideal frequency is to post daily and if possible more than once a day but that depends on your blog type . If its a business / service provider blog then you have to keep it updated as frequently as possible so that your readers / members do not find the same stuff next day . Also if the blog focus on a specific topic and is updated daily then it also gets more Search Engine love due to the fact that new blog posts are indexed frequently by SEs. Hope you find these tips useful . -Kashif from http://www.kashifblog.com

I update my blog once in every twenty four hours - though as you have pointed out at times it becomes very much difficult to draft a new post. As for me, it takes more than an hour to draft an informative post. So, I find it difficult to continue at this rate but there is no alternative way. I believe success does not like to pave the path of least resistance.

Thank you for the info! I didn't know that and I will start posting more to my blog. I find it hard to do everything but if a crawler is picking up new posts then posting more often would be worth it!

I post between three and four times on each of my sites - some only get 1 or 2 posts regularly, since they are not really not my main focus online, they are more like experiments, lol.

Thanks for telling about this, Jenaisle! I really didn't know that a break from blogging creates a difference. I have four blogs and I see to it that I update it everyday. So far, so good... and I am loving it! =)

I have a bad tendancy to blog monthly. Ick! That's horrible. I've decided to get better at this whole timeliness thing and posting weekly then maybe a few times a week. www.erikdell.com is my blog site used to promote my writing at various other sites. I used wordpress.org to get it up and running. In the near future you'll see some poetry and screenplays but for now it is what it is; a blog! www.erikdell.com

everyday is too much once in a week is too less i'd say twice a week is good, if the posts are short :)

I would say three is an excellent aim. However more certainly doesn't hurt. It is also a good idea to have some longer posts as well, at least one a week. If you are doing sponsored posts then you should definitely make sure you have a two or three post to each sponsored one ratio.

Sometimes, I blog everyday. So that's 7 times in a week. Lol. :P Then sometimes, I manage to blog 3-4 times a week if I ran out of things to say and if I'm simply not in the mood. Lol.

I would like to post as much as I can. But sometimes, it's hard to come up with any idea on what topic to blog about. then there's the problem of which blog to update now (in the case of multiple blogs), I do hope I can blog as much as I can.

i update my blog whenever i am in the mood. sometimes, blogging is tiresome, i ran out of thoughts. but now, i just update my blog when there's something that's memorable, so that when i back read my blog, i can reminisce on that particular event. a blog can also serve as a memorabilia.

When I was just starting my blog, I post one to two entries a day, sometimes I even do a blogging marathon where I do a four or five part series in a day. I was so into blogging that I spent most of my day in front of the computer and then staying up late at night thinking and planning on what to blog next, my blog is a foodie and travel blog, by the way. Here's the link if you wanna visit, thanks in advance: http://tasteofbothworlds.typepad.com After three months, I kinda begun to take it slowly, I post once a week at my laziest but most of the time, I'm on the 3-4 posts a week scale. My blog is six months old, I started in February, I have a decent number of regular readers and subscribers but I hope to gain more traffic, hope some or all of you can visit and take a peak. Thanks a lot!
