Do you believe name brand is better than generic?

Do you prefer Name brand over generic products? Why? Do you believe it's better. Is paying more a sign of better quality? Are you thrifty and generic is what you prefer? Or do you get generic because you believe more expensive is just paying for pretty packaging and not based on quality at all?

I was always under the impression that you get what you pay for but lately I've noticed that there is a difference between generic or store brand items. I can't always afford the brand names but depending on the product I will spend the extra money for what I feel is quality.

I buy generic, but lately, i am preferring more branded items. Generic items are really cheap compared to branded stuff because you are also paying for the name of the brand. Its about fad and fashion. The reason why branded items appeal more to the younger generation rather than married couples. But advantages of buying branded items is the promise of quality. They wouldn't want to destroy their name so they make sure they give us quality items. In generic items, you're not sure of the quality and if you have complaints, you wouldn't even know where to contact them. I'm preferring more to branded these days because I've come across a few generic items in which i wasn't satisfied.

Depends on what you are buying. Meds and food, i would say no, i dont believe name is better. As long as its the same ingredients i see no difference in them, the name brand cost more, just becuase of the name. Clothing, perhaps name is better quality, but even some clothes that are not big designer names still can be of good quality, but you have to search long and hard to find it.

I don't find much of a difference, besides price, so I always buy generic!

sometimes cause when you eat a lot of cereals the generic doesn't taste as good as the name brand. Now with clothes and accessories it's all just a big scam to get your money because you only pay for the name.

I believe that most generic stuff is the same as the name brand items. But there are a few things that I think you just need to stay with name brand items. My favorites are A-1 sauce and kraft mac n cheese.

I will often give generic or store brands a try, and if they aren't as good then I'll go back to the name brands. Some things just don't compare. Store brand Cheerios are not very good, and the only Mac and Cheese that I like is Kraft Dinner. On the other hand, store brand Rice Krispies or blocks of cheddar are perfectly fine. I use store brand diapers, baby wipes, disinfectant wipes, and fabric softener.

I think it depends, there are generic which may work good on you not thinking of the branded one. Well sometimes you have to be practical at the same time wise in buying. If one brand name is better that two generic then I would rather choose branded one. If what works to me is better.

Sometimes I buy name brand things and sometimes I buy generic items. Generics are just as good as name brands. They are only called name brand because people are more familiar with that item so they are more inclined to buy it. From my experiences with shopping, I don't think the quality is better.

I prefer name brands because they are better than the generic products. But they tend to more expensive so sometimes we have to the cheaper ones.
