How do you find places to go to listen to music/dance spend a night out?

We are having a difficult time finding places to go on a weekend to listen to a good country band and have a beer or two in our area! I've done the internet search, yellow pages and asked people but have found very few places. There were a lot of places that used to have what we are looking for but they have closed since not many people are into country music right now. Where do you go to find a nice place to have a night out? Are you into something that most people aren't? Have you had any luck in your search?
