Where does all the dust and dirt come from?

I have just cleared out my utility room and kitchen and mopped and scrubbed the floors. My My My! I couldn't believe how dusty and dirty my floor was. I haven't used my swiffer wet jet every day but I guess I am going to have to use it more than once a day! I have a rug as you come in the back door to wipe your shoes on then a rug to take our shoes off but it is still dirty. I cannot let it get this dirty again! All your suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks and God bless you!
