I watched it at school. We were all gathered it the gym to watch the shuttle take off. I think I was in kindergarten or first grade. The principal shut it off and we had to go back to class when it blew up.

I think they gave us the least amount of information possible to get us to quite down and back to class we went.

I was born in January of 82. The challenger broke up around the time of my birthday, and on the day my mother had a party for me. When all the kids came, their mothers were telling my Mom all about what was happening. She had not heard yet. Evidently it happened while they were in the car on the way over, and they were hearing breaking news bulletins on the radio.

i bet it put a damper on your party or at least took attention away from it while they talked about it.. that sucks!

I was watching it live at home. I kind of played sick that day so I could stay home from school. I was so fascinated with the idea of a teacher going into space. I was sitting right there 2 feet from the tv when it happened. My mom was in the laundry room and I ran in to get her. She thought I was mistaking the normal part where the shuttle comes apart from the other part (whatever it's called) for an actual explosion but I was crying and kept begging her to come look because it really exploded! She came out and I just remember her looking at the tv and then dropping into the chair as she realized what had really happened. I can't say it affected me a lot but I do cringe when I watch other take offs...just waiting for it to happen all over again. Of course I'm skittish about the incomings now too.

I was in the 4th grade when that happened. I remember the principal come in and told the teacher that it had exploded then a tv was brought to the library center and everyone watched stuff about it the rest of the day.

I was at home by myself and listening to it on TV. I decided to go outside because I live in Orlando and I stood in the street while it was going up and saw it explode in the sky. It was pretty horrible at the time because as I watched it explode I could hear the journalist on TV yelling! I am sorry that it has had such a traumatic effect on you.
