Hellcowboy © ALL RIGHTS RESERVED I have been thinking after going over some essays that me and my fiance had written many months ago and I decided I would post an essay that I wrote on the views of the Rebel Flag when it comes to the North and the South, feel free to comment on this essay and give me any tips that you think could help me improve as a writer, but if you have anything negative to say please clip your tongue: The Southern and Northern half of the united states have controversial views on the meaning behind the confederate flag or "rebel flag". The southern half is more opted to believe that their flag symbolizes the history and growth behind it. The Northern half, however, believes that it represents the oppression of right for the former enslaved. Which contributes to their belief that Southerners are still racist. The North also believe that the flag was a mockery to their set laws and that it was a symbol of the South's efforts to gain control. Their strong beliefs in those terms caused them to burn and prohibit the flag from being flow after the War. A rebellious few displayed it, however, despite the North's efforts to extinguish it's use. A few people still fly theirs or display them in windows to remind them of those lost. Pride of the confederate South is still practiced although very few will admit it. The flag does not symbolize slaver, rather it symbolizes Southern Traditions.I believe that the flag still has symbolism in that it represents the differences between the Northern Half and Southern Half of our nation. It also reminds me of the first colonies and the war that brought along growth and prosperity. Not only was the war a war between differences in beliefs, but a war to strengthen pride in each individuals heritage. Without it's existence, I would not understood the hardships that our founding father's suffered to allow our nation to be what it is today. I will appreciate all responses I get on this discussion, but please approach it with nothing but seriousness, just like I ask with all my discussions, and for each response I get I will comment back, but I can only promise that my comments will be as good as the responses, have a great day.
