How far would you go?

There was a show recently (may still be on the air) where the contestant is asked a personal question and must answer it truthfully to earn money. Each question becomes more 'personal' as the prize money increase. I'm not sure if the maximum is $500,000 or $1 million (I only watched it a few times). In any event, the contestan has his/her family present while these questions are directed to them. All you have to do is answer truthfully. Now, you don't have to go to the next question if you choose not to. Say you are at $100,000. That's yours, unless you allow the next question to be read. These people ask questions that can cause "trouble in the camp" so to speak. Of all the shows I've watched, no one has gone to the top to win the big prize. I feel it's because the money isn't worth the trouble of exposing the (can I say secret?) that would effect those of his/her family or friends. Some of the questions I've heard were.....have you ever stolen from the family business, have you ever came on to your best friends spouse, have you ever wished you'd married someone else, have you ever cheated with someone at the office since you've been married...ect,ect. Keep in mind that the spouse, mother, friend or other loved one are usually present. If you choose to answer or not answer a question that's given you....you may as well say it and cash in. If for instance you are at the question that will profit you $500,00- If you didn't answer, it would raise questions. Have you in fact answered without answering? My question is this- you are at the $500,00 question and they remind you that you can take your current winning and run, or you can go for the next question for the $500,000 prize. You know it will be a hard question. Would you take the current prize money and walk away, or would you take the chance that the next question might be the question you hoped no-one would ever ask and risk losing it all by being too afraid, embarrassed, ashamed to answer it honestly. How far would you go?

I beleive it is called "Moment of Truth". It is a good game show. One that came out that really did intrest me. I would honestly and truthfully say I would go all the way. I have nothing to hide from my family and my friends. They know all my secrets. I am not going to hide stuff from them at all. I would actually make it all the way to the top. Maybe I should go and be the first one on the show to reach that goal. I have nothing to be embaressed about or ashamed about.

I would if I could. It is only open to US residents and I am Canadian. Another thing I think it is only for people in the Calfornia residents as well if I remember correctly. Not 100% sure on that one but I know it is only for US residents. Maybe if they do a Canadian show I will definatly go and bring home the money.

I too don't know what the qualifications are. I assumed it would be for anyone in the US at least.

I wouldn't trade my privacy and that of my family and friends for money. Though I am sure that the contestants are well aware and have accepted that it's part of the game. The fact that they are participants means that they are prepared for that intrusion to their lives.

I agree diutay. I think at some point in the game the contestant comes to that conclusion when the get "the big question".

Uh-oh... I can just imagine what sort of problems that would raise... But that is if the person is actually telling the truth... I have not seen this show but it would be very interesting to watch. My question is, how would people know if the contestant is actually telling the truth? I mean, what if the contestant is a really good liar... would they be able to tell? Just wondering...

I think the have some lie detecter test. I don't know if they ask 100 questions and you know that you will get x amount of those questions...you just don't know which ones they will ask. I really don't know. Just guessing.

I would take the prize money. I would rather walk off with what I have. Being embarrassed on t.v is not worth the money.

Do you think there would be an assumption of guilt because the question went unanswered? The contestant would probably get grilled with the same question off the air by family or friends. Only there is no prize money. If they interrogate the truth out of him/her, may as well answered the question truthfully and endure the interrogation after the show. This is quite a spot for anyone to be in. .
