Anti-American July 4th?

Hey check this out. July 4th in San Francisco. So many things to do!After attending the AK Press "F++k the Fourth" party as a pre-holiday warm-up, I was hungry for some more Independence Day patriotism -- San Francisco style. I was tempted at first by a public event celebrating the "impending fall of the American Empire" where partiers could learn "flag burning techniques" while cheering on '70s-era proto-terrorists during a guerrilla screening of the documentary film The Weather Underground. Nice! And as an opening act, in the very same park, I could attend the premiere performance of the San Francisco Mime Troupe's new play "Making a Killing", a delicious wish-fact fantasy about "a cabal of military-industrial-Neo-Con colluders" who trick the US into invading Iraq so they can make money. Starring D++k Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, and the whole gang (and I do mean gang). But I faced a terrible scheduling conflict -- the day was so crowded with anti-American July 4th events that if I went to those two celebrations I'd end up missing the Propaganda III art show and the Act Against Torture Guantanamo street theater. A dilemma! What's a progressive to do?I flipped a coin and it came up heads -- which meant it was the propaganda art show for me!" http://www.zombietime.com/anti-july_4th_sf/ So how about you are any of you up to going to an Anti-American Propaganda art festival like this any time soon? Perhaps we will be blessed to be able to view this mindblowing"art" in our local museums so children on field trips can see how rotten and evil our country is. I don't know about you but this outrages me and scares me a lot. What's next? Where does it end? Look how they reacted over the Danish cartoons! Words from the Pope. They burn our flag, chant "Death to America"! What can be done to stop evil cults that hide behind religion? We took God out of our schools and public places and are now trying to remove the 10 commandments from our courthouses. I guess we would rather send our sons off with a bomb staped on their back rather than have him join the service to fight for freedom. I guess we would rather have Qurans carved in marble and statues of Muhammad than the crappy old 10 commandments and Abraham Lincoln. Who "walked softly but carried a big stick." in case you forgot. The real reason we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in our courthouses is because you can't post "Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians. It creates a hostile work environment. Do you feel politically correct about freedom hating festivals like this? myLot thinks D++k Cheney is a cuss word!

thank you when people dis my adopted country i need all the prayer i can get but then even Jesus had his moments when refering to some folks Matthew 7 6. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

If freedom of speach upsets you so, no wonder you would be disgusted by this outward display of the First Amendment.

I actually agree with you 100% But that dosent change the fact that they are allowed to do so.

Things such as the anti-4th of July festival are only done to be outrageous. These people have no idea what they are talking about. They are merely seeking our outrageous response. They do have something wrong with their personalities that they are gratified by making other people mad, but you can make that their problem not yours when you ignore them. I really like your stated reason as to why the 10 commandments can't be posted in a court house.

I am not big on pro-government things. I don't like all the corruption in politics and the two major parties. But this is done in bad taste, if these people put some of that effort into bashing the 4th into being more active politically than maybe things wouldn't be as corrupt as they are. As far as anti-American goes we have put up with it for a lot longer than you think I recall being over seas in the 80's and seeing "Rambo go home" spray painted all over a wall outside an American military post and what about the 60's? They will know when freedom is truly over because they will be getting their heads bashed in for stunts like this or shot.
