How fast can you finish reading a book?

When I'm in the mood or when I really like what I'm reading I can finish a 200 page-book in one reading. But one of the disadvantage of fast reading is not being able to absorb most of the essential parts of the book. That's why I usually read it again for better understanding. How about you? How fast are you in reading a book?

I don't really read that fast! I only read in my free times and If I really like the book I think the fastest I can read it is 3 days because my eyes get tired pretty easy and I will fall asleep. Most of the time it takes me a week to finish a book it depends how many pages it is.

I can also read pretty quickly a normal sized novel I can finish in a day, but it's true the quicker I read a book the less I can remeber about it. I know what's going on in the story while I'm reading and maybe for a couple days afterwards but that's about it. It's kinda good though because I can read the same book a year later and it's almost like reading it for the first time! lol

It depends on so much....if I'm interested in the book, if I'm also reading other books, if I have a busy week, etc. So it's kind of hard to say how fast I can finish reading a book. I don't think I have ever read a complete book in one sitting, though!

I really don't know how fast am I in reading but some of my friends say that I am skilled in speed reading. I really read that fast but not with books except for the great ones (Da Vinci Code, my pace with this was really awesome, Desiring God, and this one too.). Maybe my training with the RPG games on the SNES gave me great skills in speed reading.

When I read all the day and really fast, I can even read a 1000 page book... Usually I spend approx. 1 minute and 10-20 seconds with one page, depends on how big book and how small text. Usually it slows down during the day so I usually am able to read 300-400 pages a day of a normal-sized book. Also I read faster if the book is good and even more faster if it has action all the time.

I usually read books with about 700-800 pages and i finish it in 3-4 days. I read 40 pages in 10 minutes because there was some fast reading school and I've take it and finished it. But it was very expensive.

A small book (200 - 300 pages) will take me a couple of hours to get through. A larger book (700+ pages) I can normally get through in two - three days. I'm an avid read, and often read several things at once, based on my mood. Because I do read so many books, I find that I'm able to read the same book again once some time has passed, and I'll find something new from it - something I missed the first time around, or have a new perspective based on my own new life experiences.

One day out of interest and complete boredom I did time myself and I read about a page a minute. I probably read a bit faster if there is too much boring detail and slower if I need to concentrate more but as I read books again and again I'm not too bothered that I might miss something by reading too fast.

I can finish a book in one setting. I love to read and have enough time now to sit and read. If its a subject I really like I hate to put it down.

Good day... I'm a fast eater probably because I'm in the medical field and my rate of eating is inversely proportional in my reading of leisure books. For me reading pocket books is a way of escape and I savored every page of it for as long as I can. But that's on the interesting great novels only.

I cannot really tell my rate of reading, because it changes from time to time, but I surely can read more than a book with more than 200 pages. I also get this habit of saying to myself 'I've already read a lot of pages. I'll save these for tomorrow.' but I cannot help but peek at the next page of the book, and the next thing I know, I've already finished reading the whole book. I also feel a feeling of accomplishment every time I finish reading a book. I was puzzled of that feeling because I'm already used to reading books and finishing them, yet, I always have that feeling of accomplishment, though it's strange, it's a very great feeling. If someone have this same feeling as mine, please respond so that I'll know. Have a nice day!

I like to read, but I do not read as quickly as anyone else. I spend about 1 minute to read one page of the book. I spend as long as I own the book to finish reading the entire book.

I can read some interesting novels in one sitting and you cannot really disturb me when the book is really that interesting. I will even bring the book and read it in the toilet...hahaha! Thus I do my readings during weekends, so nobody will disturb me. That's how fanatic I am when it comes to nice novels.

hi pink maven how are you yeah you say exactly right that one can finish the book easily but cannot absorb the content or is not able to get what the author is trying to communicate these type of things are better when a competition is started between like say 3 to 4 people because if many people are there then nothing will be audible are they reading right or they are just saying blah blah blah blah blah blah blah lah !!!!

I need 18 hours to finish reading "Da Vinci Code" or "Digital Fortress." But I need 2 months to enjoy reading "My Name is Red" and "The White Castle," two books written by Ferit Orhan Pamuk, Nobel Prize Winner in Literature 2006. So, it depends on the book you're reading. Popular fiction needs less time to read, it's a good-read. But literature fiction, which usually arouses more on your curiosity, takes a lot of time to read, it's a good-book. So, it depends on the book, wheter it's a good-read or a good-book.

If I find the book very intereesting then I can read extremely fast for instance I read the first five H rry Potter books in 7 days while in school without my grades dropping since I can actually listen to a teacher and read at the same time.
