Well, that's certainly the way to do it. I'm surprised no one has every been guilted into a gift trading thing at work or something, I used to work in a large office where people pulled names, you could choose not to participate, but those who didn't participate were perceived as Scrooges.

I do not give gifts to business associates. I do give gifts to friends on their birthdays. Among the family members, I have nephews, neices, cousins, sisters and brothers. For all of them on their birthday, I offer some gifts. I always love to and happy to give gifts to others rathern than receiving.

I haven't been in a situation when I didn't want to give a gift. I liked the gift exchanges at work, if I couldn't afford to buy something then I made something. I do alot of craft works and sell some of them, when I give a gift I put a lot of thought into what I give and enjoy the responses from the person that receives it. That is my gift in return, the enjoyment of another. I have never given something that I didnt want to, that would not be a gift.

When I worked in the corporate world I had to give gifts (or money for the collection) even when I didn't want to. Some of the people I didn't even know on a first name basis. Just doesn't seem right!
