Why do dogs howl and bark?

I know that when they see somebody or something unfamiliar, they bark. But is there any other reason? Like they bark when they're hungry or something? Our neighbor's dogs are annoyingly noisy EVERY SINGLE morning. They start barking around 6a.m. and do not stop until I'm not sure when -- I guess when they're asleep already. I leave the house around 10a.m. and they still continue barking their freaking lungs out. They stop for about a minute or less and continue again. I wonder how they never get sore throat? It is VERY annoying. They become our alarm clock each morning. And some people at home have naps in the afternoon and all they get are headaches coz they usually wake up every few minutes coz the dogs are so noisy.. Is there any way to silence these barking dogs? Aside from poisoning them?

Dogs bark because someone (or something) unfamiliar is in their territory. I don't think it's the fault of the dogs if this happens all the time. The owner should do something once the dogs started barking. I mean, who lets their dog bark for hours? Don't they even at least wonder what the fuss is about? So don't poison the dogs. It's not their fault. Poison the owner instead. hehehe. Just kidding. I think you should talk to your neighbor and tell him that it's bothering you. And maybe even suggest that they should think twice before buying another dog when clearly they can't take care of them?

I think the owners are probably used to hearing the noise, or they just don't hear the noise when they are inside the house. I have no clue. And yes, we keep on telling their househelps to do something with the dogs coz they are too damn annoying. What the househelps do is to shout and scold the dogs, as if they can understand. But in a way, they probably do understand, coz they stop for about a minute, but then they start all over again. It's extemely annoying.

Well I don't feel it is their habits, you already know that dog bark because they see something unfamiliar, if they hwoling, they must be see what we cannot see, that's why they act stranger things like that, especially at the same time everyday, the owner should see why their dog acting like that? I think the owner should be responsible for their dog, and i think poisoning them was not a good way out, poor dog ... T_T

The owners are not in the house most of the time, I think. And when they are, they turn their aircondition on, so I guess they don't hear a thing. Yes, we can hear the churning of their a/c but that is just a teeny tiny sound compared to the noisy dogs. It did cross our minds to just poison the dogs, but we know we can't do it.. Heheheee

Dogs bark because 1. I saw you don`t step into my territory ! 2. I am lonley, where is my family ? 3. Other dogs don`t come closer I don`t like you at my place. Well the tird is only for some dogs. Dogs bark especially in the morning because this is the most crowded time. Everybody is going to work and people are passing their territories every five minutes. Dogs are left alone for work and before they got used to over the day they bark. No, dogs are never getting annoyed themself. They are like little kids. If you would let a kid cry without taking care about the things it wants it would cry for hours too. It is their only way of speaking and by the way not the fault of the dogs !!! The owner is responsible for this behaviour. I have two dogs, they bark when they see somebody, then I tell them: Okay calm down I saw the person too, everything is alright - and that`s it, they stop. But most people don`t care what their animals are doing and that is the noisy problem.
