Well, i am not an expert .. i do not type in the usual asdf ;lkj .. type of fashion. I have learnt it a very very hard way. AND, even now, I have to keep looking at the key board.. for finding some alphabet.. if it is suddenly required. I am now using mostly four fingers.. the fore finger and middle finger of both hands... and the thumb of right hand.. for space bar. How are you all faring ... did you all learn to type .. as per the type-tutors?

I type with 3-4 fingers at the most - usually 2 fingers. It looks awkward and I have to look at the keyboard when I type. I still manage to type with some speed and get the job done.

I also have to look at the keyboard when typing. Drives me nuts to have to do that.

ho.. oh. that might be one good reason for your nearly 8000 posts. How much are you making here in mylot? may we all know? One good method of earning more in mylot sort of places is learning to type faster, and without wasting ones time.. going with the back button, and working out on the correct spellings.. i think. Can you recommend an online typing tutor.. where we can enhance and perfect our typing skills?

I am a touch typist. I learned how to do that first at high school and then I took a business course. So I know all the exercises such as "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." and had to do them again and again. I think there might be typing books, they are sort of like steno pads, only they are larger and you might be able to get them at old bookstores or at an educational supply shop. I also think you can get software that will show you how to type.

the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.. i tried to type this without mistakes..but, had to use the back space button atleast three times. and, I have copied the sentence, for my daily exercise. This would be better than typing the abcd to xyz... you are nearly 12000 posts. twelve thousands? .. I would have to age atleast another decade in mylot.. to reach that. lols. Goodluck, and thankyou for the sentence of fox.

I have taken typing in business college and I had a very hard time reaching my goal for words per minute. I do use all of my fingers, but not always on the correct letters. So, I am just a regular person when it comes to typing speed, heck, my 13 year old can type faster than I can right now.

hi consultrainer, well, i type using my full fingers, and i feel it's very comfortable to utilize all fingers to type. i can type faster and i don't easily get tired. i do learn how to place 'the right finger on the right button' when i am still a junior high school student. at that time i didn't have a typewriter (not to mention a pc or laptop ). so i copy the 'keyboard map' on a sheet of paper and used it as if it's a keyboard of a typewriter . well, i learned it in that way for a long time, till i can bought my first typewriter. i learned to type using the typewriter, and it developed my fingers' strength. now even when it type on my pc, i still press my finger strongly so that it sounds loudly....

oh. how hard it is to just work on simulator. that too a paper simulator. You do not know if you are hitting the right key or the wrong one. It requires quite a lot of sincerity and effort. but, seing the number of your posts nearing about 2000, I know, you have excelled a lot in the skill of type writing. LOLS. for your comment on the making sound .. as if you are working on a HARD TOUCH type writer. Goodluck to you.

I typed about 60wpm, and i type using all my fingers. I learned to type fast because i used to be regular in yahoo chatrooms before. And when you are pissed off with someone who said something awful to you. You need to type real fast! You can try a game in neopets for free, where you type the words fast and timers ticking or games over. It's good to increase your speed in typing. Although there are also some program which you can practice and check your speed in typing. I may memorize all the alphabeths in the keyboard without looking at them, but i am really bad in numbers. I have to check my keyboards while typing the correct numbers, when i usually type the password. You can never go wrong in your password, or you have to keep repeating them.!

I am actually a pretty good touch-typist. However, a neuromuscular condition has made my left hand very stiff, and the laptop keyboard is not very ergonomically-designed. so I tend to type with one hand. This frustrates me to no end, because I know that I can type so much faster!

I type with both hands not looking at the keyboard. I took a class when I was in high school and there were no letters on the keyboard so we had to learn where they were. The teacher would get up and say we are learning where this letter is on the keyboard and we would hit it everytime she would tell us to by looking only at the computer screen. Later we would have to type things without looking at the keyboard now its just like its natural. I use to play those typing games also to see how fast I could type.

Hi there consultrainer! I learned to type at an early age. Our curriculum back in high school required us to have typing lessons. That is why, since then, I tried to develop the skill. It is very advantageous because I can type my working papers in a jiffy. Moreover, I can respond to as many discussions here at myLot despite the limited time I spend here on a daily basis. Speed and accuracy is very important for me. Well, so far, I am doing great on both areas.

key-board - key-board typing
I type with all my fingers but i am not an expert.. at least i don't think i am When i was in high school I had a class but didn't go too often but i remember having to take a test onces and we had to fill in the keys on the keyboard on paper WITHOUT looking at the keyboard to see what the answers were and i passed. I guess i have just learned from using the computer so much.. ya know, after a while you begin to remember where the letters are on the keyboard and you just know where to move your finger to get the words you want i guess... its weird.. as i am typing with i am not looking at my key-board at all but i think well, if i had to write down on paper the keys like i did in high school, I wouldn't be able too! but yet i still some how know how to type without looking.

I'm not sure where I learned to type. I never mastered the way they tried to teach us in school, it was too hard to figure out. But I do use all my fingers, and I have almost all the keys memorized, so it's odd for me to need to look down on the keyboard, unless I place my hands wrong.

Practice makes u faster n slowly your fingers learn the position of letters but it is better to go for a course they make u learn that... U'll never have to look at the keyboard again

yes. you will not believe that I have typed out over 600 pages of my script for thesis.. sometime back. thanks for the office word, and such other programs.. which help you in spell check, I could complete that. And, after such a lot of PRACTICE, i am now.. nearly perfect.. though I have to frequently use the back button.. to erase the irrelevant alphabets that creep in when I type. HOW did you learn? do you type like a typist?

I have learned typing when i was 10. I learned in that asdf format only. Now I can just type seeing the monitor and not by seeing the keyboard. Actually it does't need classes. Everything is made by practices. Keep practicing without seeing the keyboard. At first you will be slow, one day you can type very fast. Cheer!!!

Practice makes perfect..You just have to be patient with it. Typing with both hands makes me finish faster what I am typing and the more faster I type the more gets done. I don't use my thumbs though mostly only both my pointer finger and Middle finger. I learned to type when I was young helping my sister with her office work..then as time passed by I learned to type faster.

I'm not an expert as to be able to just type without looking at the letters in the keyboard but, even so, I still need to improve on my grammar than my typing speed since, it would be useless even if I can type a number of words per minute yet most of them in wrong spellings.. I use to look every now and then but, my hands just gotten use to the position of the letters so I have less time looking at the keyboard and more time on the screen..

typing is one of my subjects way back college, and thanks God for having this one. it helps a lot especially on my work. it helps me to type fast without looking at the keyboard. and I can type not that loud, like TAK!TAK!TAK!, if you are using all of your fingers in typing, it will be easy, and smooth to type letter.

Well, Yes I type with all my fingers and without looking at the keyboard. I learned when I was in high school. I even know when I'm hitting the wrong keys. It doesn't stop me from making mistakes. I still am quite capable of making typos just like everyone else. Maybe sometimes even more so because I tend to type too fast.
