Ok, I'm new here and just getting my head around the place and wondering what the deal is with friends on Mylot. Do people get to know eachother and then become friends or do people add friend willy nilly in hopes to gain status by having lots of "friends"?

So far I'm totally hooked. There are so many interesting discussions to take part in. If only I could tear myself away and get back to work!

Well, having friends in myLot is very advantagous. As you can see, they can help you by giving advises and give you information on myLot. They can also easily reply to your post once you start a discussion. There could also be chance that you will be able to meet them personally later on. Best to you!

i've been here about 6 weeks. many members are friends of mine from other sites. so choosing them was easy. i also choose a friend based on what they post. if it interests me, i will add them. i've also been known to add a friend based on nothing more than how i feel about their avatar. an animal is a sure add for me. are you going to upload an avatar? it's more personal and easier for people to remember you. then they might be more interested in adding you to their circle.

i find that i add friends, in the hopes that i will have conversations with them, and i also usually go through all the discussions or most of the discussions that they have started and try to find ones that i can post a response to

So, I keep promises, right? :) Anyway, this kind of sites are really helpful to find some friends, I think. I mean, here you can talk and talk like a madman without you or anyone else getting bored and eventually, there's doomed to be some clashes between persons having more or less the same mind-set. There are a lot of topics which might interest a lot of people and while discussing you might find a guy/gal who responds in your topics and you read their post and say to yourself, "Gees, that's exactly what I was expecting to say if I were his/her place." And, you know, friendships start. Yes, it's a very good way to know each other and according to me at least, like all social networking sites, it promises a tad more on the friendship quotient.
