Someone describes the word “EMPATHY” as ‘YOUR PAIN IN MY HEART” I love this description as it captures the essence of feeling the pain of the other person as if we are the one in pain. This helps us to be of assistance and support to the one in pain thus, giving some form of comfort .Now, in your own opinion which is the best way to really show empathy to friends who have been through disasters or loss of a lost one?

I can feel empathy with a friend who has lost someone, because I have been in that situation. I can tell them that the happy memories, and the love they felt for that person, will last forever, and in time these will make them feel thankful, rather than sorrowful. Feeling pain in my heart reminds me of true love. When someone I love is unhappy, or suffering in any way, I feel their pain deep inside of me, and I want to take that feeling of pain away from the one I love. Knowing I can't do this makes me feel sad. If I truly love someone, their happiness is more important to me than my own.
