Have you ever eaten Indian food?

This weekend, we went to Palm Beach. I found an Indian restaurant called, Saffron. So, my husband and I ate dinner there one night. As Indian food is one of our favorites that we can't get where we live, we were anxious to have it again. Well, this restaurant was stupendous! We've eaten Indian food in a lot of cities, but Saffron had the best meals ever. We were so excited to eat that highly seasoned, hot, interesting food. We had flat bread filled with onions and topped with cheese, chicken tikka masala, white rice, the house's variety plate of several differently prepared meats (chicken and lamb), and creamed lentils. So, have you ever eaten (west) Indian food? If so, did you like it? Which dishes are your favorites?

Hello CJay77. I love all the naan breads. I have had roti but I don't remember what it is! That's silly, but we've eaten alot of Indian food over the years and I remember that word. Yes, both chicken curry and chicken tikka masala are 2 of my favorites. I am not familiar with pavbaji, what is that? We've not had the desserts, that I can recall, so I don't known what Gulab jamum is either. Thank you for taking part in this discussion.

Hi snowy22315. I have not had the spinach dish but I'm sure I'd love it. Yes, the breads are just to die for, aren't they? We used to eat at Bukhara's in Chicago and they had a bread assortment that was just unbelievable. We ordered it everytime so we could eat the variety of breads. We've eaten Indian food all over the U.S. and we both agreed that Saffron had the best quality Indian food we've ever had. Hope you get there. We are already trying to figure out when we can get back to there. The restaurant was actually in West Palm Beach, about 5 miles from Palm Beach. Take care.

Well, I said "West Indian" so people would know that I did not mean Native American Indian food. So, I'm talking about food made in the country of India. Would that be East Indian? Anyhoo, it's Indian, not American Indian food. Yes, this food is especially interesting and tasty. It's one of my favorites. I've only cooked it once and it took me 2 days as spices had to be processed together and then the chicken had to be bathed in the yogurt sauce and refrigerated for 24 hours. I will say, we loved that meal! It was quite a treat for us. But I've never cooked it again. Indian breads are so delicious. Your dessert sounds scrumptious! We've never eaten any of the desserts as we tend to stuff ourselves during the meal. Thanks for sharing.

Hi shamashemnice. Yes, you are right, Indian food is highly seasoned and often quite spicy. In fact, it's one of the spiciest foods I think I've ever eaten. If you prefer a less seasoned meal, Indian food is definitely not the food for you. Thanks for sharing.

I love Indian food! I love the complex mixture of spices and textures. There's a small restaurant near here that's absolutely wonderful and they have about the best food I've tasted. I love samosas, of course, and I particularly love mixed vegetable curries. I also am a big saag paneer fan. Yum!

Hey fluffnflowers! Glad to hear from another myLotter who loves Indian food. Yes, Indian food definitely has very distinctive blends of spices and seasonings. You are lucky to be near a good Indian restaurant. Alas, we are far from Indian restaurants. I believe the closest one is about an hour away. The vegetable dishes are just delicous, aren't they? My husband always wants the creamed lentils dish. But I must admit that I would try all the vegetable dishes if I could. I've not tasted the spinach dish you speak of, well, maybe I had a bite of it when we did an Indian buffet once, but I'm not sure. Thanks for sharing.
