The Vacation That Wasn't

Well My sister and I planned this vacation for months. We so wanted to go home to Pennsylvania to see our Mother and other relatives that still live there.But it was not ment to be!!
I live in Arkansas, my sister in Texas.So I drove with my grandaughter to my sisters house which is 5 hours away on Wednesday. We rested, and Thursday morning we headed out on our 22 hour trip.We were on the interstate in Topeka Kansas traveling at about 55 M.P.H. it was raining.When all of a sudden the vechile in front of us just stopped.My sister was driving, There were cars in the right hand lane and guard railes on the left, she could not stop. We had no choice but to hit this man. He was in a Explorer with a tire on the back of it. We were driving a Kia. The tire came off the explorer came over our hood, crushed it up, and jamed up under our car.It looks like my sisters car is totaled, we do not know yet. No one was hurt badly, my sister and I both have bad backs, so we are very sore, my granddaughter had a messed up eye, but it is o.k. now. But we were stranded about 500 miles from home. The policeman was nice took us to the rent-a car place, and that too was a nightmare!
We spent the night in a motel and headed back to my sisters house in Texas the next day. My granddaughter and I stayed there 3 days then I drove on home to Arkansas. So much for a vacation!!

that was really a vacation. hahaha. we cant avoid that. sometimes it really happens. the next time you plan your vacation do it in a near place. good luck!

zeny,Yea, some vacation it was,that is right..Things do happen, you are right about that!!Well I would plan a vacation closer, but really want and need to go home!! I want to see my Mother.

Oh no, how awful, I am so glad to hear that you are all OK, that could have been really nasty. I am really sorry about your vacation too, there is nothing worse than it all going wrong when it has been planned for so long. Just glad to hear that you are all OK anyway.

Gemini,Yes,it was a nightmare,being so far from home and trying to get the rent-a-car and all. Hope nobody ever has to go through this..I too am thankful we are o.k. we were very blessed.Sorry the vacation was messed up though, I really want to see my Mother in the worst kind of way.Oh well some day!!

I'm so sorry your plans were ruined,but the most important thing is that you are all okay. A vacation can be replanned. I'm sure your mom was dissappointed and relieved all at the same time. I hope you can try for a visit again soon.Maybe fly this time.

yes,the important thing is that we all survived this accident, it could have been much worse.Everyone was very dissapointed, as we were.But we can replan it, hopefully.

Yikes! Good thing nobody was seriously injured.
I know you need that vacation. Time to re-plan and hopefully things will go well the next time. Or, you might want to ask your relatives from Pennsylvania to drop by your place instead.

Yea, that was a good thing nobody was seriously heart.And we do need a vacation.We have not been home in over 2 years.My sisters daughter and her family also are back in Pa. after living over in England for 2 years.Oh well maybe someday soon we can try it again..

Aw... I know you've planned this vacation for months, you've even shared your plan here on myLot. I'm sorry to hear that your supposed to be vacation turned out to be a mess. But I'm glad that no one was hurt. That's what's important. I'm sorry for the mishaps, hope things turn out well. God bless!

selece, Yes my dear friend, I did tell you about my plans for this trip to my home town months ago. I so much wanted to see my Mother, step-dad, sister and other relatives,friends and all. I have not been there in over 2 years.But you are rightYou are right we were not hurt, by back is reinjured, I am doctoring with it.But the car can be repaired.Thanks for your concern.

Awh, that is really tough . You go for a vacation and you end up having a nightmare of a time. I live in Pennsylvania myself, so if only we could magically trade places for a few days 
. Maybe you can go visit some other time, or have them go to your place. Would a plane ticket be cheaper?

Yea, it was pretty rough, it has really been a nightmare. Oh where in Pa. do you live? I am from Johnstown.I would sure love to trade places with you for a few days, you could bask in this heat wave we are having down here..Some of my realitives come to visit, but hard to get them all here.My sister & I are both disabled, and the plane tickets are really out of our price range.

Thank God you're all okay.I know the feeling of having an accident.Been shocked, unable to talk, out of my mind.Maybe that vacation is not meant to happen.You can have that vacation on another date.For now you just have to get good rest and some relaxing specially your grandmother.Take care!

misty, yes, You are right,we had so many of these feelings, it was bad having this accident so far from home.It was atotal nightmare. I guess it was not ment for use to go home at this time, but this trip is long over due. We have not been ho e in over 2 years. My Mother is not well.I am doing nothing but relaxing, laying on ivce,going to chiropractor.
