Shock collars.

I've been working with my dog for several years to attempt to stop her excessive barking. I've said no, I've asked people to ignore her while she is barking, and I've tried several other tactics. They seem to start working, but soon she ignores what I am doing and I have to find something new. One of the doctors at the vet clinic that I work at uses shock collars for some of her dogs, so I know that it's not exactly harmful. I think most people are against using them because it seems mean. I don't want to use it either, and I wouldn't mind that she barked sometimes if she could control herself. Her biggest problem is that she doesn't care what time it is. If someone opens my door to give me something, be it early afternoon, or just as everyone is laying down to sleep, she will bark at them. If there is someone passing the house and she can hear or see them, she will bark, even if it is just children on the sidewalk. When she barks, my other two dogs start barking, even if they're not quite sure what they are barking at (the Dachshund will face the other way, and still be laying down as if asleep, and will be barking). I've tried everything, but I am running out of options!
