Recently there was a death of a 98 yrs old lady named Irena.During WW11, Irena worked as a sewer specialist in Germany. But she had an ulterior motive. She was German and knew what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews. Irena smuggled infants out in her tool box and larger children in back of her truck in a burlap bag. She saved around 2,500 children. Last year she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She lost. Al Gore won for a slide show on Global warming. Heres a link to the article about her. http://www.irenasendler.org/facts.asp if it doesnt work maybe copy past.

A brave and remarkable lady of her time that go against the flow and does something which a lot of Germans were just ignoring! The number of young lives that she had saved is just so astounding! And all these under the Nazis rule, it is like almost IMPOSSIBLE! But she did it! The 2500 children must really thanked their saviour for saving them on that fateful years. Their fates were sealed when they were to sent to that camp. But, because of one courageous lady, they go on and have a life, perhapes a family and live to a ripe old age. I sure hope that they are there to mourn her passing and hold her forever in their hearts. She gained my respect and admiration! It's a bummer that she lost the Nobel Prize to Al gore. She should have won! Thanks for sharing the link girl!

Yes, it was a real pity. Women are often overlooked in this male dominated world. Guess they felt threathened by us women as more and more of us enter the workforce and all that.
