I had a wild and back to nature experience camping in Australia on an island national park. All there was there was a bush toilet and to get water I had to walk up to a creek. I camped on a grassy camping site overlooking the sea on Sark Island in the Channel Islands in the UK. It is wonderful to camp on a quiet and peaceful island. I have camped on the mainland overlooking beaches in a national park in New Zealand. I enjoyed camping by the side of a river in Croatia. I haven't yet gone camping in the mountains. The ideal camping site for me is small, say it is allowed a maximum of 4 other tents and it has a superb coastal view. It is about a fifteen minute walk to a hut that has a toilet next to it.

It will be better to camp in the mountains. There you can enjoy every moment to the fullest.

i experienced camping on the mountain twice, it frightened me the first time since it was just us camping. the experience though was immensely fulfilling since the next day we started early to traverse to the other side of the mountain. i did also camp once beside an island and it was soothing and calm. the sound of the waves were a gift to the senses.

We once went camping in the green mountain natl. forest in vermont, the area that We found was along a river where another river joined it at a right angle. It was a really cool spot and we had a blast. One night it rained really hard and the smaller river swelled into a torrent, what a job getting back across that mess. That morning was the morning that we were to get married and it started off a little soggy.. funny looking back. But in answer to your question i definantly like camping in the mountains by a river.
