My husband cooks since he is 8, he used to do the meals for his mother with his sister while his mother was working. He is actually a fantastic Chef, I am lucky. How about the man in your house (for that I mean husband, boyfriend, brother, father, etc.), does he cook?

Dear valerial, let me tell you something..... our Indian men are too much pampered by mothers, sisters, sister in laws , aunts, wives, daughters, daughter in laws......or even by maid servants in the house.....lol........They just don't let Indian lazy men do anything and that is why 90% of men will not really cook anything in the house. Also let me tell you , some men even think it below their dignity to cook.....lol...(unless they are left alone in a jungle or on some lonely island).
But my hubby is very nice.....he can fry eggs and even make some potato chips....ha ha ha.... you really made me laugh today.

LOL, you are the one making me laugh here! I see and undertand what you saying but maybe that will change with the new generation or something like that. The latins have that also, but I met many latin men that cook better than women. It all depends I think but for me is interesting to see the difference of cultures. Now I have a question for you if you were the one being pampered would you try to do it? Or you would just let someone else do for you? I would let someone else do for me! hahahaha

That's a really good point actually. Stereotype always place women in the kitchen, but there does seem to be a higher number of men in the pro chef world. Perhaps men are just more ambitious than women. Maybe we're happy to cook in the home but they don't feel manly unless they're making a high flying career out of it!

Hi Dagda, I tend to disagree with that, my experience in life is that the men I had around me did not profit from it and would be eager to make a dinner many times needed without any complaint. I think is a culture and education thing, I think men enjoy cooking, the ones that cook!

Luckily he does, and when he tries he does really well, better than I at times.
However he has something against recipes, and tells me I know how to cook so I don't need them.
He doesn't spend that much time in the kitchen cos he'd see I often use them even if it is only for a guide.
When he bits the bullet and has a read of one thought the meals that come from him are amazing.
Most of the top chefs in the world are men, so there's got to be something said for that! :)

And I have in my life seeing many men cooking much better than women! The recipes must to bother hm because he likes the creation part of it isn't it? But for basis is good then from there you can create!

I am a man and I cook better than any woman I know. My wife says she is very lucky to have me and I agree with her, some cultures makes men less for cooking but I think that is an imbecility, is nothing wrong of men doing women activities or vice versa what counts is the competency in all you do in life.

Yes as a Husband for my wife I also have to do things in my own way and cooking is one of the favorite things that I do like especially that my wife and I have a different culture and so the food we eat. So, I am actually cooking in the house and sometimes teach my wife to do it in my own way of cooking the food.....

Both my mum and my dad are good cooks, and it's something that me and my brother both enjoy doing too. We grew up in a house where a lot of socialising happened alongside cooking.
My boyfriend, whose parents are also both good cooks, can barely make cheese on toast. I'm sure he could cook very well if he put his mind to it but it's something he really doesn't enjoy so has never put in the effort to learn. His brother can cook but I think he only does when their parents are away.

So, Dagda live this bf and find a new one that cooks, LOL! Kidding! Generally men that has had the parents cooking all the time do not take the effort to learn generally because of the mother saying oh no son! take this plate do not worry about you will find a good woman that cooks for you, LOL!

ha ha ha .....I just can't stop laughing.....you see now why we women are important for them.....no wonder it is said that " way to man's heart is through his stomach.......
